Eosinophil Levels, Neutrophil-Lymphocyte Ratio, and Platelet-Lymphocyte Ratio in the Cytokine Storm Period of Patients with COVID-19.
In the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, elevated inflammatory cytokine levels, particularly interleukin-6 (IL-6), were detected in patients with cytokine storm (CS). ⋯ In the light of the obtained results, COVID-19 patients with a decrease in lymphocyte levels and an increase in NLR and D-dimer levels and a history of CAD and DM have a higher risk of cytokine storm and mortality.

Prevalence and Prognostic Importance of High Fibrosis-4 Index in COVID-19 Patients.
The fibrosis 4 (FIB-4) index was developed to predict advanced fibrosis in patients with liver disease. We aimed to evaluate the association of FIB-4 with risk factors for progression to critical illness in middle-aged patients hospitalized for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). ⋯ The FIB-4 index derived from baseline data obtained during hospitalisation can be used as a simple, inexpensive, and straightforward indicator to predict ICU requirement and/or death in middle-aged hospitalized COVID-19 patients.

Influencing Factors of Recurrence of Nonvalvular Atrial Fibrillation after Radiofrequency Catheter Ablation and Construction of Clinical Nomogram Prediction Model.
This study sought to investigate the predictive factors for atrial fibrillation (AF) recurrence in patients after radiofrequency ablation (RFCA) and construct a nomogram prediction model for providing precious information of ablative strategies. ⋯ Preoperative MHR, COURSE, CHD, and TYPE were independent risk factors for predicting recurrence of AF after RFCA. The nomogram model based on MHR, COURSE, CHD, and TYPE can be used to predict the recurrence of AF after RFCA accurately and individually.

Pedabarography May Play a Role in Foot Plantar Scanning in Acromegaly.
Acromegaly is associated with symptoms in many organs, including the heart, colon, skin, bones, and many joints. Patients with long-term treatment or biochemical control still suffer from acromegaly arthropathy (AA). Primarily, the weight-bearing joints of the lower extremity are affected and at last deformation emerges. The aim of this study is to detect the changes in the feet with pedabarography in patients with acromegaly. ⋯ In our study, there was a significant difference between acromegaly patients and healthy controls, only on the right rarefoot surface and the left rarefoot surface, and was higher on the left in both groups. These patients often experience changes in the hindfoot and heel, and foot surface area and pressure distribution may vary. Early diagnosis and proper treatment of the disease can prevent the development of complications and improve the quality of life. Foot scanning using pedabarography in the management of AA is a useful tool that can be used to manufacture customized orthopedic insoles and ergonomic shoe designs to prevent irreversible damage and reduce overload and lower extremity pain.

The Association of Inflammatory Markers, IL-1α and TGF-β, with Dietary Insulin Load and Dietary Insulin Index in Overweight and Obese Women with Healthy and Unhealthy Metabolic Phenotypes: A Cross-Sectional Study.
Context Research has shown IL-1α might play a role in the associations between the MH group and DII and DIL. Objective. We evaluated the association of inflammatory markers, IL-1α and TGF-β, with dietary insulin load and index in women with healthy and unhealthy obesity phenotypes. ⋯ Discussion and Conclusion. Significant associations were observed between the MH group and DII. IL-1α might play a role in these associations.
