How effective is in vitro fertilization, and how can it be improved?
To measure IVF effectiveness, which is defined as the cumulative incidence of live delivery over real time in women after commencing IVF treatment. ⋯ IVF effectiveness could be improved if women, particularly those over 35, underwent more cycles.

Investigation of the possibility of using ischemia-modified albumin in testicular torsion: an experimental study.
To investigate the serum ischemia-modified albumin levels with use of an experimental testicular torsion (TT) model. ⋯ The results from this pioneering study determined a high level of ischemia-modified albumin in TT, indicating a potential value for TT diagnosis. The value of ischemia-modified albumin levels in TT should be investigated also with respect to prognosis.

Insurance coverage and in vitro fertilization outcomes: a U.S. perspective.
To compare the impact of mandated IVF insurance coverage on ET practices and resulting multiple pregnancy rates. ⋯ In the last 8 years, despite a reduction in the average number of embryos transferred and multiple pregnancy rates, there is a continued association between mandated IVF coverage, the transfer of fewer embryos, and lower rates of multiple pregnancies and births, particularly in the younger age groups.

Embryo disposition: choices made by patients and donor oocyte recipients.
To compare final embryo disposition between patients and donor oocyte recipients. ⋯ In our patient population, a higher proportion of patients with infertility ultimately used or stored their cryopreserved embryos for future reproduction compared with donor oocyte recipients. However, recipients were much more likely to donate to other infertile couples and less likely to discard their remaining embryos compared with patients.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyComparison of levonorgestrel intrauterine system versus hysterectomy on efficacy and quality of life in patients with adenomyosis.
To compare the levonorgestrel intrauterine system (LNG-IUS) with hysterectomy in patients with adenomyosis and to study the effects of both treatments on quality of life (QOL). ⋯ It seems that LNG-IUS demonstrates significant and comparable improvements in hemoglobin levels to hysterectomy in treating adenomyosis-associated menorrhagia during the first year. Although both treatments lead to improvements in health-related QOL, LNG-IUS seems to have superior effects on psychological and social life. It may be a promising alternative therapy to hysterectomy.
