Comparative StudyAbdominal myomectomy--a safe procedure in an ambulatory setting.
To evaluate the efficacy and safety of minilaparotomy myomectomy in an ambulatory setting. ⋯ This study demonstrates that minilaparotomy myomectomy, when performed using a systematic operative technique, can be accomplished in an outpatient setting with minimal blood loss, fast recovery time, and a low complication rate. Postoperatively, patients require minimal analgesia, which permits them to be discharged home the same day. Minilaparotomy myomectomy is a safe, cost-effective treatment of most symptomatic uterine leiomyomata in an ambulatory setting.

Identification of X chromosome copies by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction for population screening tests.
We adapted a method that allows the identification of X chromosome copy number by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) in a short amount of time. It may be used for sex and aneuploidy involving X chromosome large population screening tests.

Multicenter Study Comparative StudyMulticenter observational study on slow-cooling oocyte cryopreservation: clinical outcome.
To evaluate the efficacy of oocyte cryopreservation by a single slow-cooling protocol involving sucrose (0.2 mol/L) in the freezing solution. ⋯ Under the conditions tested, the clinical outcome of oocyte slow-cooling cryopreservation is reduced compared with fresh cycles. Nevertheless, in cases of inapplicability of embryo cryopreservation, oocyte cryopreservation should be offered to patients with surplus oocytes.

Randomized Controlled TrialA randomized controlled study comparing harmonic versus electrosurgery in laparoscopic myomectomy.
To compare the effectiveness and safety of harmonic scalpel versus electrosurgery to reduce blood loss during laparoscopic myomectomy. ⋯ The use of the harmonic scalpel for laparoscopic myomectomy is associated with low total operative time, low intraoperative blood loss, and low postoperative pain, with no increase in surgical difficulty.

Randomized Controlled TrialComparison of effects of 3 mg drospirenone plus 20 μg ethinyl estradiol alone or combined with metformin or cyproterone acetate on classic metabolic cardiovascular risk factors in nonobese women with polycystic ovary syndrome.
To evaluate the effects of a pill with drospirenone (3 mg) plus ethinyl E(2) (20 μg) (DRP/20EE) alone or associated with metformin or cyproterone acetate (CPA) on some metabolic cardiovascular risk factors in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). ⋯ Treatment with DRP/EE20 improved insulin sensitivity in hirsute women with PCOS, with no deterioration of lipid profile. This effect was not ameliorated by the addition of metformin. The positive metabolic effects of DRP are abolished by the concomitant use of CPA.
