Pain is one of the most common symptoms in cancer patients, and its management is a significant goal in supportive care. Many barriers interfere with its effective control. Nowadays, with a shift in care from the hospital to the home, there is an increasing tendency to involve family caregivers in pain management. Their beliefs may act as barriers to effective pain management in these homecare settings. This study aimed to validate and explore these beliefs using Barriers Questionnaire II (BQ II). ⋯ This is the first time BQ II has been used in this population. The results are consistent with the international academic studies in this area, but more research is needed. BQ II was found to be a valid and reliable scale for defining caregiver attitudes and barriers to effective pain management in homecare settings. Health professional training, interventions targeted to caregivers and trained home care teams may improve the quality of cancer care in these settings.

This study aimed to detect the differentially expressed genes between oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) tissues and adjacent normal tissues, and perform pathway analysis and protein-protein interaction (PPI) analysis on differentially expressed genes (DEGs). ⋯ This study was helpful to further study the relationship between OSCC gene directions.

Cytoreductive surgery combined with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) or hyperthermic intrapleural chemotherapy (HIC) has been established as the new treatment modality for selected patients with peritoneal and pleural malignancies. The purpose of the study was to compare the development of acute kidney injury (AKI) in patients who received intravenous cisplatin alone, HIPEC and underwent surgery. ⋯ HIPEC may not be so safe with regard to kidney function. Every attempt should be taken to decrease kidney damage during this procedure.

Definitive radiotherapy is a treatment option for patients with inoperable meningiomas. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the results of stereotactic radiotherapy as first-line treatment for intracranial meningiomas that were diagnosed radiologically. ⋯ SRS and hFSRT were effective with excellent local control rates and they can be an alternative treatment option for patients with inoperable meningiomas.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the expression of long-chain non-coding RNA (lncRNA) SNHG7 in bladder cancer tissues and cell lines, and to explore its impact on bladder cancer cell proliferation, apoptosis and invasion processes. ⋯ This study showed that lncRNA -SNHG7 is overexpressed in bladder cancer tissues and cells. Downregulation of lncRNA-SNHG7 can inhibit the proliferation of bladder cancer cells and promote apoptosis, as well as inhibit cell invasion, which provides a potential molecular target for future tumor targeted therapy.
