Comparative StudyDo additional intramedullary elastic nails improve the results of definitive treatment with external fixation of open tibia fractures? A prospective comparative study.
External fixation has been associated with a high incidence of complications and poor outcomes due to the instability and difficulty in treating open tibia fractures. We use intramedullary (IM) elastic nails to supplement the external fixator. We compared the results of fractures treated by external fixation with and without IM-elastic nail. ⋯ Level III: prospective comparative study.

Multimodal analgesia combining several non-opioid analgesics is recommended for pain control after surgery. In one study of total hip arthroplasty (THA), pain relief achieved by adding ketamine to the paracetamol-ketoprofen combination was statistically significant but remained inadequate in most patients. In two other studies, the analgesic effect of nefopam was synergistic with that of ketoprofen and additive with that of paracetamol. Adding nefopam to the paracetamol-ketoprofen-ketamine combination has not been evaluated. ⋯ Level III, case-control study.

Outcomes of anterior lumbar interbody fusion in low-grade isthmic spondylolisthesis in adults: a continuous series of 65 cases with an average follow-up of 6.6 years.
Surgical treatment of isthmic spondylolisthesis continues to be controversial. The fusion procedure can either be instrumented using a posterior and/or anterior approach or non-instrumented. The role of associated decompression, reduction of the slippage, disc height restoration and lordosis restoration has not definitely been established. The goal of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of anterior approach for interbody fusion (ALIF) without any reduction maneuver. ⋯ Level IV. Retrospective study.

Unstable pelvic ring injury with hemodynamic instability: what seems the best procedure choice and sequence in the initial management?
Most fatalities related to pelvic ring injuries occur early and are caused by massive retroperitoneal bleeding. The objective of our study is to determine the optimal sequence of surgical procedures to restore hemodynamic stability in patients with unstable pelvic ring injuries. ⋯ Level IV. Retrospective study.
