Randomized Controlled TrialInternal fixation of the fibula in ankle fractures: a prospective, randomized and comparative study: plating versus nailing.
Open reduction and internal plate fixation of the fibula is the gold standard treatment for ankle fractures. The aim of this study was to perform a prospective randomized study to compare bone union, complications and functional results of two types of internal fixation of the fibula (plating and the Epifisa FH intramedullary nail). ⋯ II (randomized prospective study).

The ilio-inguinal approach for recent acetabular fractures: ultrasound evaluation of the ilio-psoas muscle and complications in 24 consecutive patients.
The ilio-inguinal approach is used to achieve internal fixation of acetabular fractures. Although the outcomes of this procedure have been extensively reported, information is lacking on potential complications. More specifically, the effect on the ilio-psoas muscle, whose iliac attachments are almost completely released, has not been accurately evaluated. ⋯ Level IV, retrospective study.

Case ReportsComplete traumatic backout of the blade of proximal femoral nail antirotation: a case report.
This article presents a rare case of traumatic complete expulsion of the helical blade after successful treatment of an intertrochanteric fracture with proximal femoral nail antirotation (PFNA). A 94-year-old woman sustained an intertrochanteric fracture of the left femur. Fracture fixation was performed by using PFNA-II. ⋯ The PFNA-II was removed and a cemented bipolar hemiarthroplasty was performed. At 5 months after surgery, the patient was able to walk with a walker without pain. Traumatic complete expulsion of the blade should be considered as a possible complication of PFNA/PFNA-II.

The progression of lumbar curves in adolescent Lenke 1 scoliosis and the distal adding-on phenomenon.
The postoperative deterioration of the curve below spinal fusion instrumentation resulting in a distal adding-on (AO) phenomenon in idiopathic adolescent scoliosis (IAS) frequently requires surgical revision with disappointing secondary clinical results. ⋯ 4, retrospective study.
