Full-text publication rate of studies reported as 2013 SoFCOT meeting abstracts.
Publication of scientific work, although mandatory to ensure dissemination of novel research findings and obtain further funding, can require considerably more time and effort compared to conference presentations. Several national or scientific societies have determined the publication rate of studies reported at their meetings. The French Society for Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery (Société française de chirurgie orthopédique et traumatologique, SoFCOT) has not yet measured this parameter. The objective of this study was to (i) evaluate the full-text publication rate of studies accepted in abstract form for podium presentations or posters at the 2013 SoFCOT meeting and (ii) identify characteristics of abstracts associated with subsequent full-text publication. ⋯ IV, systematic retrospective analysis.

Selective neurotomy of the sciatic nerve branches to the hamstring muscles: An anatomical study.
Hamstring spasticity can bring about a flexion deformity of the knee, liable to cause disability. Surgical treatment by selective neurotomies of the sciatic nerve branches leading to the hamstring muscles may then be indicated. Few studies have investigated the precise origin of these branches on the sciatic nerve, describing the innervation pattern of the hamstring muscles. Further anatomical data are needed to enhance surgical techniques in neurotomies of the sciatic nerve branches, to define the best incision and surgical approach and what section and length of the SN need to be exposed. Therefore, we performed an anatomical study to: (1) define a surgical approach to perform selective neurotomies of the sciatic nerve branches for hamstring spasticity?(2) whether the anatomical variants of the hamstring innervation have been identified? ⋯ IV: prospective study without control.

Multicenter StudyEnhanced recovery short-stay hip and knee joint replacement program improves patients outcomes while reducing hospital costs.
An attractive option to reduce hospital length of stay (LOS) after hip or knee joint replacement (THA, TKA) is to follow the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery principles (ERAS) to improve patient experience to a level where they will feel confident to leave for home earlier. The objective of this study was to evaluate the implementation of short-stay protocol following the ERAS principles. ⋯ Level II.

Risk factors for dislocation after revision total hip arthroplasty with a dual-mobility cup. Matched case-control study (16 cases vs. 48 controls).
Reports of high dislocation rates after revision total hip arthroplasty (THA) have encouraged the widespread use of dual-mobility cups. Dislocation has been less common but not fully abolished with dual-mobility cups, and its causes have remained unidentified. The objectives of this retrospective matched case-control study were: 1) to identify risk factors for dislocation, 2) and to assess dislocation outcomes. ⋯ III, matched case-control study.
