Review Comparative StudyAre commercially-available precontoured anatomical clavicle plating systems offering the purported superior optimum fitting to the clavicle? A cadaveric analysis and review of literature.
The indication for operative treatment of displaced midshaft clavicle fractures remains controversial. However, if plate fixation is considered, implant prominence and skin irritation are the most common causes for re-operation. Low profile implants as well as closely contouring plates to the individual anatomy may reduce these complications. The aim of this study was to compare the fitting accuracy and implant prominence of 3.5mm pelvic reconstruction plates (PRP) with pre-contoured anatomical clavicle plates (PACP) for midshaft clavicle fractures. ⋯ Level IV cadaveric study.

Meta Analysis Comparative StudyIs reverse total shoulder arthroplasty more effective than hemiarthroplasty for treating displaced proximal humerus fractures in older adults? A systematic review and meta-analysis.
The indications for surgical treatment of displaced proximal humerus fractures in older patients have gradually changed in the past 10 years: fewer hemiarthroplasty (HA) procedures but more reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA) procedures are being done. The aim of this study was to determine the clinical and radiological outcomes, the complications, reoperations and revisions of RSA and to compare them with those of HA. ⋯ IV, Systematic review of literature.

Management of septic non-union of the tibia by the induced membrane technique. What factors could improve results?
Management of septic non-union of the tibia requires debridement and excision of all infected bone and soft tissues. Various surgical techniques have been described to fill the bone defect. The "Induced Membrane" technique, described by A. C. Masquelet in 1986, is a two-step procedure using a PMMA cement spacer around which an induced membrane develops, to be used in the second step as a bone graft holder for the bone graft. The purpose of this study was to assess our clinical and radiological results with this technique in a series managed in our department. ⋯ IV, Retrospective study.

Comparative StudyCapitellar erosion after radial head arthroplasty: A comparative biomechanical study of operated radial head fractures on cadaveric specimens.
We asked whether open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) or radial head arthroplasty (RHA), common techniques used for the confrontation of displaced or comminuted radial head fractures, are correlated with cartilage wear of the capitulum. ⋯ Our study suggests that metallic monopolar RHA after a displaced or comminuted radial head fracture carries a high risk of rapidly evolving cartilage loss of the capitulum.

Comparative StudyNormative spino-pelvic sagittal alignment of Lebanese asymptomatic adults: Comparisons with different ethnicities.
Normative values of sagittal alignment are used as references for the diagnosis and treatment of spinal pathologies. There are currently no reference values for the normative sagittal alignment of Lebanese subjects. The objective is to describe normative values of full body sagittal alignment parameters in asymptomatic Lebanese adults and to compare the sagittal alignment of this population to that of populations of various origins. ⋯ Level IV - cross sectional study.
