Ten-year follow-up of acute arthroscopic Bankart repair for initial anterior shoulder dislocation in young patients.
Early treatment of initial anterior glenohumeral dislocation in young patients is controversial and the interest of surgery, and notably arthroscopic stabilization, has not been demonstrated. A prospective study was therefore performed to assess (1) short-to-medium-term recurrence rate, (2) functional outcome, and (3) and medium-term osteoarthritis rate. ⋯ IV, prospective non-comparative study.

Arthroscopic treatment of acute acromioclavicular dislocations using a double button device: Clinical and MRI results.
Arthroscopic treatment of acute grade 3 and 4 acromioclavicular dislocation is controversial, due to the risk of recurrence and of postoperative reduction defect. The purpose of the present study was to investigate whether the healing of the acromioclavicular (AC) and coracoclavicular (CC) ligaments and the accurate 3D positioning parameters of the AC joint using MRI were correlated with satisfactory functional outcome. ⋯ Level IV, therapeutic case series.

Does primary total knee arthroplasty for acute knee joint fracture maintain autonomy in the elderly? A retrospective study of 21 cases.
Due to poor results and failure encountered in osteosynthesis of peri-articular fracture of the knee, arthroplasty may be suggested to osteopenic elderly subjects. All osteosynthesis techniques entail loss of independence and are associated with elevated mortality. No studies definitively establish better management of such fractures. ⋯ IV, retrospective study.

Observational StudyCompared fixation and survival of 280 lateralised vs 527 standard cementless stems after two years (1-7).
Restoring the native hip anatomy increases hip prosthesis survival, whereas increased femoral lateralisation creates high torque stresses that may alter prosthesis fixation. After finding lucent lines around cementless lateralised stems (Corail™, DePuy Synthes, St Priest, France) in several patients, we evaluated the effects of lateralisation in a large case-series. The objective of our study was to compare lateralised vs standard stems of identical design in terms of radiological osteo-integration and survival. ⋯ III, retrospective case-control study.

Multicenter StudyMinimally invasive posterior transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion: One-year postoperative morbidity, clinical and radiological results of a prospective multicenter study of 182 cases.
Interbody fusion is the gold standard treatment for the management of numerous diseases of the spine. Minimally invasive techniques may be more beneficial than conventional techniques. The main goal of this study was to report the one-year postoperative results of a series of posterior lumbar interbody fusions by a minimally invasive technique in relation to improvement in functional outcome, interbody fusion and morbidity. ⋯ The one-year postoperative radiological results and functional outcome of minimally invasive posterior lumbar fusion are satisfactory. The benefits of this minimally invasive approach are mainly found in the first 6 postoperative months. Successful radiological interbody fusion was not correlated to functional outcome at the final follow-up.
