We present a case of 72-year-old man with a history of metastatic melanoma diagnosed in 2015 presenting a stable disease in treatment with dabrafenib. ⋯ The most recent literature lacks studies defining the clinical phenomena of an early recurrence of intracranial melanoma with de novo involvement of dural compartment in patients in treatment with a target immunotherapy. The aim of this present study is to report a case of early recurrence of intracranial melanoma metastases with evidence of fast immunohistochemical and macroscopical mutation of pathologic elements, with an analysis of literature that shows the lack of well-described occurrences.

Multicenter Study Observational Study
Risk factor analysis of deep surgical site infection after posterior instrumented fusion surgery for spinal trauma: A multicenter observational study.
Surgical site infection (SSI) is a dire complication in spinal surgeries, resulting in reoperation, prolonged hospitalization, and increased expenses. Patients with traumatized spine have been reported to have a high risk of postoperative SSI. Precise identification of risk factors associated with SSI can be helpful in its prevention. However, there are only a limited number of studies investigating risk factors of SSI after posterior instrumented fusion for traumatized spine. ⋯ The complexity of patients and resident involvement in surgeries may be greater at academic than at nonacademic hospitals. ASA score can be considered as an accessible and comprehensive tool for surgeons to preoperatively gauge the potential risk of SSI, a complex clinical entity. The results of this study can improve clinicians' risk perception in those undergoing posterior fusion for spinal trauma.

Transformation of grade II to grade III rhabdoid-papillary meningioma: Is SRS the culprit? A case report and literature review.
In the management of meningiomas, single-fraction stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) is an established alternative treatment to surgical resection. However, its effects on tumorigenesis and malignant transformation are still uncertain. ⋯ To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report to describe malignant transformation of a grade II to grade III meningioma after SRS to date.

Adult atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumor in the pineal region Case report and literature review.
Atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumor (AT/RT) is a malignant embryonal central nervous system tumor with a poor prognosis. Its occurrence in the pineal region is extremely rare, with only 6 cases in adults reported so far. ⋯ This case highlights the importance of immunohistochemistry in the diagnosis of the disease and the importance of an aggressive treatment.

The term "growing teratoma syndrome (GTS)" has been used as follows: patients with germ cell tumor (GCT) who present with enlarging original/metastatic masses during or after appropriate systemic chemotherapy despite normalized serum markers. In other words, the definition of the term GTS is not fully established. We analyzed and reviewed our case series regarding GTS that developed after the treatment of central nervous system (CNS) nongerminoatous germ cell tumors (NGGCTs). ⋯ The incidence of p-GTS, enlargement of the cystic component during treatment, is not rare. Physicians need to be aware of this important phenomenon.
