Extracranial-to-intracranial bypass surgery is a well-established technique that has been practiced for over 50 years. Since then, numerous technical variants have developed nationally and internationally. ⋯ The results of this electronic survey will help to identify common patterns in STA-MCA bypass surgery and will serve as a guide to other neurosurgeons to modify and improve their technique. Cerebrovascular bypass is still widely practiced, including by young neurosurgeons, who are actively learning from established masters who share their experience.

Rate and Predictors of Unanticipated Surgical Evacuation in Patients with Intracerebral Hemorrhage: Post Hoc Analysis of ATACH 2 Trial.
We performed this analysis to identify the rates, predictors, and associated outcomes of unexpected neurosurgical evacuation in a multicenter randomized clinical trial, Antihypertensive Treatment of Acute Cerebral Hemorrhage (ATACH) 2. ⋯ In the large cohort of ATACH 2 subjects with good grade ICH, the rates of unanticipated surgical evacuation were low and were associated with relatively high rates of death or disability at 3 months.

Radiation-induced spinal cord cavernous malformations associated with medulloblastoma: a case report and literature review.
Radiation-induced spinal cord cavernous malformations (CMs) are rare pathologies compared with radiation-induced cerebral CMs. We present a case of a radiation-induced spinal cord CM developed 31 years after radiation therapy for medulloblastoma. ⋯ Radiation-induced spinal cord CMs should be recognized as a possible late adverse effect in patients treated with radiation therapy for medulloblastoma.

Endoscopy requires a unique set of skills that are difficult to acquire in most training programs. A method to test technical skills, in a validated manner, has rarely been attempted. The purpose of this study was to develop a technical skills examination for objective assessment in neuroendoscopic education. ⋯ A neuroendoscopic skills test can distinguish between more or less experienced surgeons. Significant overall performance improvement, regardless of seniority level, following neuroendoscopic training demonstrates the accuracy of the test at detecting operating improvement in all stages of learning.
