This study analyzed patient, radiologic, and clinical factors associated with operative brain abscesses and patients' functional outcomes. ⋯ Ventricular rupture and diabetes are significant risk factors for poor outcomes in intraparenchymal brain abscesses. No clear difference in outcomes was found between surgical excision or aspiration in our retrospective cohort.

Delays in postoperative referrals to rehabilitation or skilled nursing facilities contribute toward extended hospital stays. Facilitating more efficient referrals through accurate preoperative prediction algorithms has the potential to reduce unnecessary economic burden and minimize risk of hospital-acquired complications. We develop a robust machine learning algorithm to predict non-home discharge after thoracolumbar spine surgery that generalizes to unseen populations and identifies markers for prediction. ⋯ Machine learning algorithms reliably predict non-home discharge after thoracolumbar spine surgery across single-center and national cohorts and identify preoperative features of importance that elucidate algorithm decision-making.

The Intraoperative Utilization of Multi-modalities Could Improve the Prognosis of Adult Glioblastoma: A Single Center Observational Study.
In recent years, numerous neurosurgical multimodal techniques have been utilized to maximize tumor resection safely and effectively. However, the synergetic effects of neurosurgical multimodalities on the survival of glioblastoma patients remain unclear. This study evaluated the role of intraoperative utilization of multimodalities in glioblastoma patients. ⋯ This study indicated that the utilization of intraoperative multimodal techniques improved the extent of resection and elevated the survival for adult glioblastoma patients.

Studies have confirmed active and abnormal inflammation in the hematoma cavity of chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH). However, a relationship between the peripheral blood status and the prognosis of CSDH patients has not been demonstrated. ⋯ The peripheral monocyte percentage may be a convenient and effective indicator for predicting the outcome of CSDH for patients receiving conservative treatment. A higher percentage of monocytes could be a risk factor for a poor response.

We sought to observe the effectiveness and safety of multimode mechanical thrombectomy in the treatment of acute ischemic stroke. ⋯ Multimode mechanical thrombectomy is a safe and effective therapy for the intracranial occlusion of large vessels in patients with acute ischemic stroke.
