Disulfidoptosis as a Novel Mechanism of Neuronal Death: Insights from Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease.
Sporadic Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (SCJD) is a severe neurodegenerative disorder characterized by rapid progression and extensive neuronal loss. Disulfidptosis is an innovative type of programmed cell demise characterized by an accumulation of disulfide bonds within the cellular cytoplasm, subsequently triggering functional disruption and cell demise. ⋯ Our study reveals the possible involvement of disulfidptosis in SCJD and highlights the significance of identified hub genes as potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets for SCJD.

Effectiveness and Safety of High-Dose Tranexamic Acid in Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis Surgery: A Meta-analysis and Systematic Review.
This systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials and retrospective controlled studies aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of high-dose tranexamic acid (TXA) in spinal correction surgery for adolescent idiopathic scoliosis patients. ⋯ Our meta-analysis suggests that the use of high-dose TXA reduces intraoperative blood loss, transfusion rate, total blood loss, and postoperative blood loss in spinal correction surgery for adolescent idiopathic scoliosis patients. However, there were no significant differences in operative time and blood loss per segment.

Predictive modeling of early neurological deterioration in patients with Acute Ischemic Stroke.
Ischaemic stroke is the leading cause of death worldwide, and early neurological deterioration(END) occurs in 20%-40% of patients, which is the main cause of severe neurological deficits and disability, and even increased mortality. The occurrence of END is closely related to the poor prognosis of the patients, so it is important to identify the risk factors for the occurrence of END in patients with AIS and target intervention at an early stage factors and targeted intervention is of great significance. ⋯ Clinical practitioners should closely monitor high-frequency predictors of END in patients. However, the varying quality of current models necessitates the selection of models that balance performance with operational simplicity in clinical practice.

The modified Brain Injury Guidelines (mBIG) were developed to improve care of patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI). This study aimed to assess if utilization of mBIG by neurosurgeons would improve TBI patient throughput at a Level I trauma center, particularly for patients meeting mBIG 1 criteria. ⋯ The mBIG 1 criteria were safe and improved low-risk TBI patient throughput at a Level I trauma center. Neurosurgical involvement may be beneficial to the mBIG while still facilitating significant resource savings.

While early diagnosis of brain tumors is essential for improving prognoses, several challenges prevent early diagnosis of these illnesses in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). The objective of this systematic review is to identify and evaluate the barriers and challenges to early detection of brain tumors in LMICs, as well as to propose potential solutions. ⋯ Significant barriers to early detection persist in LMICs. Collaboration between stakeholders, legislators, health ministries, and governmental organizations is essential for developing and implementing focused interventions, such as establishment of referral pathways and specialized centers, adapting guidelines to local cultural contexts and raising public and professional awareness.
