Anaplastic oligodendroglioma (AOD) is a rare high-grade central nervous system tumor. The current research on prognostic prediction of AOD remains limited. This study aimed to identify prognostic factors and establish the nomograms to predict overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS) for patients with AOD. ⋯ We successfully established the nomograms to predict the OS and CSS for AOD patients. The nomograms showed good performance in prognostic prediction, assisting clinicians in evaluating patient prognosis and personalizing treatment plans.

The objective of this study was to investigate the outcomes of microneurosurgical interventions on V1 segment of the vertebral artery in patients with refractory vertebrobasilar insufficiency (VBI) due to dolicoarteriopathy and external compressions and to assess the secondary benefits of Parkinsonism-like symptoms. ⋯ Microneurosurgery for vertebral artery anomalies in refractory VBI patients, particularly those with concomitant parkinsonian-like syndromes, has demonstrated potential in symptom remission and medication reduction.

We sought to investigate the value of combining intrauterine cerebral blood flow changes with brain electrical activity examination in evaluating the prognosis of brain injury. ⋯ Combining the assessment of intrauterine cerebral blood flow changes with cerebral electrical activity examination proved beneficial in diagnosing the prognosis of brain injury and provided an important reference for early clinical intervention.

Pedicle screw and rod systems are widely employed in spine surgeries and loosening due to insufficient mechanical stimulation on the bone is frequently encountered in pedicle screws. This mechanical stimulation problem also arises due to the high rigidity of the implant material. This study aimed to develop new pedicle screws with composite material to solve the pedicle screw loosening problem. ⋯ In conclusion, FGM pedicle screw decreased the strain on the bone which is an important parameter for the loosening failure according to the study. The other important conclusion is that FGM pedicle screw can be the solution to the loosening of the screw but not in all vertebrae.

Blink reflex (BR) is an oligosynaptic reflex that involves the ophthalmic branch of the trigeminal nerve (TN), ipsilateral main sensory and trigeminospinal nuclei, bilateral facial nuclei, and the facial nerves (FNs). Theoretically, as BR tests the function of both TN and FNs simultaneously, it is an ideal tool for monitoring the status of TN and FNs during skull base surgeries. Nevertheless, it has been used only recently in surgeries as the use of anesthesia limits its use. ⋯ Intraoperative BR is a sensitive, specific, and safe monitoring technique that has good predictability of facial paresis and paresthesia among patients undergoing MVD for trigeminal neuralgia and primary hemifacial spasm and patients undergoing cerebellopontine angle tumor resection.
