We investigated the association between the inflow angle of aneurysms and their occlusion status at 1 and 2 years after flow diverter (FD) treatment. ⋯ The inflow angle of >90° and H/W ratio <1.2 may significantly influence the CO rate in small- or medium-sized internal carotid artery aneurysms 1 and 2 years post FD.

This study aimed to determine the incidence and potential risk factors of superior mesenteric artery syndrome (SMAS) after corrective spinal surgery in patients with adult spinal deformity (ASD). ⋯ The incidence of SMAS after corrective spinal surgery in patients with ASD was 2.0%. Postoperative smaller TLK and greater ULL can be risk factors for developing SMAS. Spine surgeons should avoid overcorrection of the upper lumbar spine in the sagittal plane to prevent SMAS.

Bone but not Bone: Systemic Calcinosis presenting as Lumbar Facet Pseudohypertrophy with Neurogenic Claudication.
Systemic sclerosis affects 14-21 per million persons annually and can present with calcinosis-deposition in the skin and subcutaneous tissues. In rare circumstances, paraspinal depositions are also seen, which can cause neural element compression requiring surgical intervention. ⋯ Such pseudohypertrophy is often refractory to medical therapy, necessitating surgical intervention. Last, owing to the fluid nature of the calcinotic fluid, decompression is often easier than would be expected based on preoperative imaging alone.

Posterior fossa decompression (PFD) surgery creates more space at the skull base, reduces the resistance to the cerebrospinal fluid motion, and alters craniocervical biomechanics. In this paper, we retrospectively examined the changes in neural tissue dimensions following PFD surgery on Chiari malformation type 1 adults. ⋯ The brainstem width and cervical cord volume showed a modest increase after PFD surgery, although standard deviations were large. A reduction in compression after PFD surgery may allow for an increase in neural tissue dimension. However, clinical relevance is unclear and should be assessed in future studies with high-resolution imaging.

Despite advances in the surgical management of peripheral nerve pathologies over the past several decades, it is unknown how public awareness of these procedures has changed. We hypothesize that Google searches for peripheral nerve surgery have increased over time. ⋯ The increase in Google searches related to nerve injury and pain between 2010 and 2022 may reflect increasing public recognition of these clinical entities and surgical techniques addressing them. Technical terms relating to nerve pain are infrequently searched, surgeons should use plain English terms for online discovery. Interest in spasticity and myoelectric prosthetics remains stable, indicating an opportunity for better public outreach.
