Mutations in isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 (IDH1) induce extensive transcriptional alterations to promote glioma development. However, IDH1 mutation contributes the better clinical outcomes of glioma. Further understanding the transcriptional and DNA methylation changes mediated by IDH1 mutation will provide new therapeutic targets for glioma. ⋯ RARRES2 was downregulated by IDH1 mutation and served as an unfavorable prognostic factor in glioma.

Meningioangiomatosis (MA) is a rare, poorly studied brain hamartomatous lesion, the etiology of which is not fully elucidated. It typically involves the leptomeninges, extending to the underlying cortex, characterized by small vessel proliferation, perivascular cuffing, and scattered calcifications. ⋯ Although MA lesions are rarely reported with still-unknown etiology, it is prudent to be aware of these lesions for prompt diagnosis and management to avoid morbidity and mortality associated with delayed diagnosis and treatment. We present a case of a young patient with a first-time seizure caused by a right parieto-occipital MA lesion that was successfully excised via an awake craniotomy, achieving 100% seizure control.

To compare patients undergoing anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) versus cervical disc replacement (CDR) for time to minimum clinically important difference (MCID) achievement and predictors of delayed MCID achievement for the patient-reported outcomes (PROs), Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System Physical Function, Neck Disability Index, Visual Analog Scale (VAS) neck, and VAS arm. ⋯ Most patients achieved MCID in physical function, disability, and back pain outcomes within 2 years of surgery. Patients undergoing CDR achieved MCID faster in physical function. Early predictors of MCID achievement were CDR procedure, Asian ethnicity, and elevated preoperative PROs of pain outcomes. Workers' compensation was a late predictor. These findings may be helpful in managing patient expectations.

The efficacy of treatment of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is limited. The effect of DNA damage repair is an important factor. ⋯ The DNA damage repair-related gene signature was an independent and powerful prognostic biomarker in GBM. Knowledge of the GBM subtypes could have important implications in the subclassification of GBM.

We tried to broaden our knowledge of the possible role of wall shear stress (WSS) in the occurrence of intracranial aneurysms (IAs). ⋯ The current study provided evidence that WSS reduction could activate Ang II, reduce miR-29 expression, and activate the TGFBR2/Smad3 axis, thus promoting EndMT and accelerating the progression of IAs.
