Meta Analysis[Short- and long-term consequences of prenatal exposure to cannabis].
Cannabis is one of the most commonly used drugs by pregnant women. The objective of this review of literature was to examine the association between cannabis use during pregnancy and effects upon growth, cognitive development (memory, attention, executive functions...) and behavior of newborns, children and teenagers. ⋯ In addition to alcohol and cigarettes, information should be given to women about the potentially harmful effects on fetal development, newborns, children and teenagers of smoking cannabis. Therefore, it seems necessary to develop prevention programs on this subject.

Review[Prevention of fetomaternal rhesus-D allo-immunization. Perspectives].
At present, rhesus prophylaxis concerns RhD negative pregnant women, even though 30 to 40% of them are bearing a RhD negative child. Knowing the RhD fetal genotype could change this quite irrational practice of prophylaxis (exposing many more women than needed to blood derived products) without reducing its efficacy. RhD fetal genotype determined on amniotic fluid has an excellent sensitivity. ⋯ Another new perspective for rhesus prophylaxis is the attempt to substitute polyclonal IgG anti-D into human monoclonal IgG anti-D. The main difficulty is to elaborate monoclonal antibodies with a capacity to neutralize RhD positive red blood cells equivalent to those of polyclonal anti-D. A new generation of antibodies is in process and preliminary clinical results are suggesting a possible use of these monoclonal antibodies for future rhesus prophylaxis but long-term follow-up is required to draw further conclusions.

A 69-year-old menopaused woman, presented a 2-month history of metrorrhagia. We suspected a malignant disease, but, the histopathologic examination of biopsies, found an endometrial inflammation without malignant cells. Culture for mycobacteria showed a Mycobacterium tuberculosis. ⋯ Usually, it concerns young infertile women from non-industrial countries. More attention should be paid to this disease. Women, irrespective of their age, should be investigated for silent or subclinical genital symptoms, with mycobacterial examination.

[Time-course of neonatal precocious mortality between 1994 and 2003 at the Dakar University Teaching Hospital].
To evaluate early neonatal mortality at the University Teaching Hospital and assess changes in the rate and causes during the last ten years. ⋯ Early neonatal mortality has decreased remains at a high level. It could be improved by limiting the number of premature births, neonatal suffering and neonatal infection. In a parallel direction we recommend organizing a perinatal network in Dakar.
