[Mild cognitive impairment in patients with coronary artery disease: clinical-demographyc and EEG-correlates].
The clinical and demographic factors associated with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and the topographical features of electroencephalogram (EEG) spectral power in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) depending on the presence or absence of MCI were studied. ⋯ Education is an important factor to preserve cognitive abilities in patients with CAD. In addition, the severity of coronary artery lesions and low cardiac contractility affect the degree of cerebral ischemia and neuronal dysfunction detected by spectral EEG power. The efficacy of quantitative EEG analysis methods for early detection and prevention of cognitive disorders in CAD patients was confirmed.

[Transcranial dopplerography in the combination with echopulsography in the assessment of intracranial and cerebral perfusion pressure in patients with intracranial hemorrhages].
To study the possibilities of common ultrasound diagnostic methods in the evaluation of intracranial pressure (ICP) and central perfusion pressure (CPP) and to search for the ways of increasing the accuracy of these methods. ⋯ The complex use of noninvasive ultrasound methods allow in most cases to measure with acceptable accuracy and assess the degree of intensity of ICP and CPP changes at the acute stage of intracranial hemorrhages.

[The possibilities of increasing of efficacy of treatment in patients with dorsalgia].
An influence of L-lysine aescinat on decrease of pain syndrome and normalization of movement's functions. MATERIAL AND METHODS. 220 patients with dorsalgia has been studied. To asses treatment efficacy the Huskisson's visual analog scale, multidimensional verbal and color test of pain and the modified Waddel's scale were used. ⋯ The results of the study revealed that the use of L-lysine aescinat promotes considerable acceleration of process of regression of a pain syndrome and the efficacious rehabilitation of movements and plays a significant role in faster and expressed knocking over of a radicular syndrome.

Review[Alemtuzumab is a new drug based on monoclonal antibodies for treatment multiple sclerosis: treatment possibilities and risks(review)].
Recently published results of II and II phase clinical trials of alemtuzumab in relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (MS) are reviewed. This drug has an immunosuppressive mechanism of action with an anti-inflammatory effect higher than that of high-dose beta-interferon. Its neuroprotective activity and possible side-effects are discussed.

Review[Wernicke encephalopathy and Korsakoff's psychosis: clinical-pathophysiological correlation, diagnostics and treatment].
Wernicke's encephalopathy and Korsakoff's psychosis are severe unfavorable forms of alcoholic brain damage with poor prognosis. Thiamine deficiency represents a common cause of both diseases. In many cases, Korsakoff's psychosis develops in the outcome of Wernicke's encephalopathy, which, along with the general etiology, lets talk about a single disease - Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome, acute (usually reversible) stage of which is Wernicke's encephalopathy and a chronic one (often irreversible) is Korsakoff psychosis. ⋯ Unrecognized and therefore go untreated Wernicke's encephalopathy is a serious threat to the health and lives of patients, worsens the processes of brain aging and increases the risk of Alzheimer's disease in later life. The basic approach to the treatment of Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome is long-term parenteral administration of thiamine, often in high doses. As an adjuvant means of therapy memantine is considered.
