Yılmazer MM, Özdemir R, Meşe T, Küçük M, Öner T, Devrim İ, Bayram N, Güven B, Tavlı V. Kawasaki disease in Turkish children: a single center experience with emphasis on intravenous immunoglobulin resistance and giant coronary aneurysms. Turk J Pediatr 2019; 61: 648-656. ⋯ Patients who did not respond to initial IVIG therapy, had higher white blood cell (WBC) count, higher C-reactive protein (CRP) and lower albumin levels than those who did (P < 0.05). In univarite analysis; CRP, WBC and albumin were found to be significant predictors of nonresponse to initial IVIG therapy, while a stepwise multiple linear regression analysis showed that WBC count and albumin levels were significantly correlated with nonresponse to initial treatment with IVIG. Our study showed that WBC count and albumin levels might be used as predictors of nonresponse to the IVIG therapy in Turkish children with KD.

An adolescent case of extensive Behçet`s disease successfully treated with Infliximab. Turk J Pediatr 2019; 61: 585-588. ⋯ However, his cardiac thrombus enlargened. After his treatment was replaced with infliximab, the pulmonary aneurysms regressed, and the cardiac thrombus disappeared. In conclusion, infliximab should be considered as a reliable option for vascular Behçet`s Disease resistant to conventional treatment.

Review Case Reports
A case of craniopagus parasiticus: an antenatal diagnosis by ultrasound screening at 16 weeks of gestation and a literature review of recently reported cases.
Al Yaqoubi HN, Fatema N, Al Fahdi BS. A case of craniopagus parasiticus: an antenatal diagnosis by ultrasound screening at 16 weeks of gestation and a literature review of recently reported cases. Turk J Pediatr 2019; 61: 941-945. ⋯ To the best of our knowledge, the case that we present is the first CP case that was diagnosed at such an early gestational age. The formed fetus was found to harbour complex cardiac anomalies. In view of poor prognosis of survival after delivery and upon permission from the couple, the pregnancy was terminated at 17 weeks of gestation.

Impulse oscillometry reference values and correlation with predictors in Turkish preschool children.
Er İ, Günlemez A, Baydemir C, Kılıçbay F, Ersu R, Uyan ZS. Impulse oscillometry reference values and correlation with predictors in Turkish preschool children. Turk J Pediatr 2019; 61: 560-567. ⋯ For girls, height had a negative effect on R5-20, Z5, AX values, while age had a positive effect on X5-20 and a negative effect on Fres (p < 0.05). For boys, weight had a negative effect on R5- 20, Z5 values, while age had a positive effect on X15-20 and a negative effect on AX, Fres (p < 0,05). This study provided reference values of IOS in healthy Turkish children that would be a useful guide for diagnosing and following respiratory diseases in preschool children.

Isıyel E, Tekşam Ö, Foto-Özdemir D, Özmert E, Tümer AR, Kale G. Home accident or physical abuse: Evaluation of younger children presenting with trauma, burn and poisoning in the Pediatric Emergency Department. Turk J Pediatr 2018; 60: 625-632. ⋯ Moreover, age group and income were significant risk factors in the logistic regression model for the patients who were thought to be suspected abuse/abused in univariate analyses (age group: Odds ratio (OR) 0.279, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.085-0.723, p=0.0049; income: OR 2.323, 95% CI 1.052-6.198, p=0.0345). In conclusion, most cases of physical abuse and neglect are referred to the pediatric emergency clinics, and these patients are misdiagnosed as home accidents. The physicians working in the emergency department should be informed and trained in recognizing the cases of abuse and neglect, making the differential diagnosis, identifying the high-risk families and appropriate physical and psychological treatment for the abused and neglected children.
