To investigate the correlations of serum homocysteine (Hcy), α2-Heremans-Schmid glycoprotein (AHSG), and C-reactive protein (CRP) with insulin resistance (IR), 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25-OH-VD), and blood lipids in patients with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) by detecting their levels. ⋯ GDM patients have increased serum Hcy, AHSG, and CRP levels and a decreased serum 25-OH-VD level, indicating that serum Hcy, AHSG, CRP, and 25-OH-VD are correlated with glucose and lipid metabolism disorders in GDM patients.

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has affected more than 100 countries worldwide and the discharge criteria of patients with COVID-19 vary across different countries. In China, patients with two negative respiratory viral RNA tests taken at least one day apart can be discharged with no further quarantine required. Currently, PCR testing of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in fecal sample is not routinely performed. ⋯ Based on the experience from the 2003 SARS epidemic, we recommend that fecal RNA testing of SARS-CoV-2 should be incorporated into the discharge criteria to minimize the risk of transmission from the gastrointestinal tract.

Public Concerns and Mental Health Changes Related to the COVID-19 Pandemic Lockdown in Saudi Arabia.
Public measures to confine the spread of the novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection involves partial or full lockdown by some countries including Saudi Arabia. Social isolation, and financial insecurity are potential risk factors for mental changes. This study aimed to address public concerns, and assess mental health changes, and the factors associated with mental health burden in response to the COVID-19 outbreak in Saudi Arabia after the full lockdown is widely employed. ⋯ This study addressed serious public concerns, and substantially high rates of depression and anxiety related to the COVID-19 pandemic, and lockdown.

Real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction assay (RT-PCR) is the gold standard for diagnosis of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19); however, it is not universally available and may have limitations in response times. The aim was to evaluate the routine blood tests for diagnosis of COVID-19, determining the diagnostic accuracy of blood biomarkers to differentiate between patients with and without COVID-19. ⋯ Blood counts of lymphocytes and eosinophils, and plasma levels of D-dimer, LDH, hsCRP, and ferritin can be used to differentiate patients with and without COVID-19 and as a tool for diagnosis of suspected COVID-19 in adult patients at hospital admission.
