Association studies of tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-308 G/A (rs1800629) polymorphism and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) have shown inconsistent and contradictory results among different populations. In the present study, a meta-analysis was performed to evaluate the association between TNF-308 G/A polymorphism and COPD susceptibility in Chinese population. ⋯ This meta-analysis indicates that TNF-308A/G polymorphism may contribute to individual suscepti-bility to COPD in Chinese population.

Background: Emerging evidence suggests that long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) can be used as potential biomarkers for a wide range of cancers. Herein, the prognostic value of lncRNA taurine upregulated gene (TUG1) was analyzed using meta-analysis in different kinds of cancers. Methods: Databases including Cochrane Library, PubMed, and Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure were searched for epidemiological studies up to March 2018. Hazard ratio (HR) and its 95% confidence interval (CI) were calculated to probe the relationship between TUG1 expression and overall survival of various cancer patients. ⋯ In the subgroup analysis, cancer type, sample size, and TUG1 expression levels affected the association between TUG1 expression and cancer prognosis. No evidence of publication bias was detected. Conclusions: Our meta-analysis revealed that a high expression of the lncRNA TUG1 was significantly associated with poor prognosis in patients with various cancers. Therefore, lncRNA TUG1 could be considered as a potential prognostic factor in different cancer types.

Prognostic Value of Expression of MicroRNAs in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.
microRNAs are widely involved in a variety of life processes and considered as potential biomarkers of tumor prognosis. A growing number of studies have documented that miRNAs were associated with outcome in NSCLC patients and can act as a prognostic marker. However, existing studies concerning the relationship between miRNAs and outcome in NSCLC patients were contentious and dispersive. Therefore, a systematic metaanalysis to explore the prognostic value of miRNAs on NSCLC patients is urgently needed. ⋯ Our meta-analysis provided the evidence that miR-21, miR-200c, miR-125b, miR-148b, miR-365, miR-124, miR-32, miR-146a, and miR-375 can act as prognostic biomarkers in NSCLC.

To evaluate the efficacy and safety of dendritic cells (DCs) co-cultured with cytokine-induced killer cell (CIK) immunotherapy combined with transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) or TACE plus local ablation therapy for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). ⋯ The combination of DC-CIK immunotherapy and TACE or TACE plus local ablation therapy improves 1- and 2-year overall survival, ORR, DCR, and provides a better quality of life for patients with HCC.

Could Blood Neutrophil Gelatinase-Associated Lipocalin (NGAL) be a Diagnostic Marker for Acute Kidney Injury in Neonates? A Systemic Review and Meta-Analysis.
Blood neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL) has been shown to be helpful for acute kidney injury (AKI) in pediatric patients and adults. Whether this is true in neonates remains unclear. ⋯ Blood NGAL could be used as diagnostic marker for AKI in neonates.
