Hepatic malignancy is one of the most common malignant neoplasms around the globe, and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common type. In this study, the roles and mechanisms of MiRNA-610 in the chemo resistance of HCC will be discussed. ⋯ MiRNA-610 not only played a tumour suppressor role in HCC but also affected chemo resistance to DDP. This role is mainly mediated through targeted silencing of the HDGF gene, which may offer a new potential therapeutic target and improve the clinical therapeutic effect for HCC.

The aim of the current study was to identify whether serum pentraxin 3 (PTX3) level could be a marker of increased inflammation in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients. ⋯ No relationship was determined between PTX3 and disease activity in RA patients, nor with traditional clinical and biochemical measurements of disease activity. However, the PTX3 levels of the RA patients were found to be high in comparison with the control group. Because, from these results, the role of PTX3 in the pathogenesis of RA cannot be ignored, there is a need for further studies to determine the potential role of PTX3 in RA pathogenesis.

The most widely accepted theory for the development of preeclampsia is the "two-stage theory". An imbalance between antiangiogenic and proangiogenic factors is considered the link between the two stages. ⋯ The aim of this review is to present the current use of different biochemical tests in the prediction, diagnosis and management of preeclampsia. Development of these diagnostic methods in recent years and a belief in their ground-breaking role in modern management of preeclampsia make this review especially important.

The development of burnout syndrome is conditioned by demographic variables, personality-related variables, ways of coping with difficulties and organizational/professional factors. Burnout is a psychological syndrome of emotional exhaustion and fatigue that may occur in people working with other people in certain ways. Understanding the role of global self-esteem and sociodemographic and work environment-related variables in the development of burnout syndrome in Polish nurses was the aim of this study. ⋯ Developing personal resources and deriving benefits from them may be important in the prevention of burnout syndrome. This study indicated the need to carry out preventive measures in the workplace to protect nurses from burnout.

The aim of this study was to evaluate 3-dimensional (3D) ultrasonography (US) in determining the surface irregularity of carotid artery plaques. ⋯ The present study shows that 3D US examination is a valuable non-invasive method for investigation of surface irregularity of carotid artery plaques.
