The study was designed to explore how cinobufagin (CB) regulates the development of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells through lipid rafts. ⋯ CB regulates the activity of Akt in lipid rafts by inhibiting caveolin-1 expression to promote NSCLC cell apoptosis.

NOD-like receptor protein 3 (NLRP3) is implicated in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) pathogenesis. Here, we explored the role of NLRP3 in cigarette smoke (CS)-induced airway inflammation in COPD. ⋯ NLRP3 expression is elevated in lungs and sera of COPD smokers. Inhibition of NLRP3 significantly attenuates CS-induced airway inflammation in mice via inactivation of multiple hub genes and their related inflammatory processes and signaling pathways.

To investigate the toxicity of combretastatin A4 phosphate (CA4P) hyaluronic acid (HA) gel nanoparticles (HA-CA4P-NPs) in OSCC (oral squamous cell carcinoma). ⋯ HA-CA4P-NPs improved drug release and delivery, and increased cytotoxicity to cancer cells.

Lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] is an independent risk factor for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). Increased Lp(a) concentration > 30 mg/dl (75 nmol/l) and especially >50 mg/dl (125 nmol/l) may cause faster atherosclerosis, being an important and underdiagnosed residual cardiovascular risk factor. Thus, there is a need to characterize further the clinical phenotypes in patients at risk for ASCVD with high Lp(a) levels now and during follow-up, while also looking for the possible impact of geographical differences. ⋯ In Poland, the largest representative of Central and Eastern European countries, 27% of patients at very high cardiovascular risk with established ASCVD experience additional risk related to an elevated Lp(a) level, with every second patient having CCS. Interestingly, only two factors were significantly related to elevated Lp(a) levels: lower Hb values and higher platelet count. However, the clinical relevance of these results needs confirmation.

The present study focused on developing a nomogram model to predict the 3-month survival of patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) receiving intravenous thrombolysis with tissue plasminogen activator (tPA). ⋯ A robust BDH2-MN2 (BNP, DNT, HCY, HDL, MHR, NHR and post-thrombolysis NIHSS) nomogram model was successfully developed and validated. The developed nomogram enables prediction of adverse outcomes of individual AIS patients receiving intravenous thrombolysis with alteplase for 3 months.
