Observational Study
Simple ultrasound evaluation of fetal adrenal glands as a marker of imminent preterm birth: a preliminary report.
We present a simple 2D big ultrasound measurement of the fetal adrenal glands and their biometrical growth analysis highlighted as a potential preterm birth marker. ⋯ A simple 2D B-mode measurement of the fetal adrenal glands´ central zone growth can be applied as an additional marker in the prediction of true preterm delivery. The natural biometrical overall growth of the adrenal glands seems to be dependent on gestational age, whereas that of the central adrenal gland zone seems to be independent on gestational age (Tab. 3, Fig. 5, Ref. 26).

Bilateral finding of non-acute subdural hematomas (NASH) is less common compared to unilateral occurrence. The aim of this study was to evaluate results of surgical treatment of bilaterally treated bilateral NASH. ⋯ The laminar hematoma type and larger PHV were significant risk factors for the recurrence of bilateral NASH and worse neurological outcome. Larger PHCV and PV were significantly associated with hematoma recurrence (Tab. 7, Fig. 3, Ref. 24).

Does mean platelet volume/lymphocyte count ratio associate with frailty in type 2 diabetes mellitus?
Frailty is a common problem in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). It is considered to be associated with inflammation. Novel markers derived from hemogram, such as neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and mean platelet volume/lymphocyte ratio (MPVLR), are proposed as inflammatory markers. In present study, we aimed to compare NLR and MPVLR levels of frail patients with T2DM to non‑frail diabetic subjects. ⋯ We suggest that elevated MPVLR could be a finding that marks frailty in diabetic subjects. Inexpensive and easy‑to‑assess nature of the MPVLR may be useful in predicting frailty in type 2 diabetic population (Tab. 2, Fig. 1, Ref. 32).

The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of two abundant dietary supplements, quercetin and vitamin C on some factors involved in metastasis and proliferation of prostate cancer, which are resistant to conventional chemotherapies in late stages. ⋯ Our results indicated the beneficial effect of quercetin and vitamin C on prostate cancer cells with different metastatic sites and their differential response to the treatment which in turn may lead us to reach suitable therapeutic outcomes to combat cancer (Fig. 3, Ref. 36).

Although the data in the literature regarding the etiopathogenesis of adrenal adenomas are scarce, the neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR) is an easy-to-calculate parameter that has gained popularity in recent years as an indicator of subinflammation. In this study, we aimed to show the changes in NLR in patients with adrenal incidentaloma. ⋯ Adrenal incidentaloma has become one of the clinical problems frequently encountered by endocrinologists in recent years. Even when they are nonfunctional, they are thought to be associated with various metabolic disorders and inflammation. With this study, we have captured a clue to inflammation, and we are sharing the findings described herein (Tab. 1, Ref. 28) Keywords: adrenal, neutrophil, lymphocyte.
