The aim of the present study was to evaluate the relationship between exercise capacity and n/lymphocyte ratio (NLR) in patients enrolled in a cardiopulmonary rehabilitation program. ⋯ NLR could be used as a predictor to evaluate the exercise capacity in patients to be enrolled in cardiopulmonary rehabilitation program (Tab. 3, Ref. 30) Keywords: exercise capacity, neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio, rehabilitation.

In this study we aimed to evaluate whether there is a link between circulating 25-OH-D levels and molecular response in chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). ⋯ Our results indicated for the first time in the literature that severe deficiency of vitamin D was independently associated with molecular unresponsiveness in subjects with CML. 25-OH-D may be contributing to molecular response in the patients (Tab. 3, Ref. 24).

The Covid-19 pandemic has fully opened the debate on the complexity of the problem, which goes far beyond medical and epidemiological analyzes and proposals, although these are key to the decisions of leaders in the decisive sphere. Critical situations always force us to look for new methods. ⋯ The adaptation of the faculty administration at the time of this crisis is admirable in many respects and essential for the long-term societal struggle with the pandemic. (Ref. 3). Keywords: COVID-19, Coronavirus 2019, pandemic, public health, medical faculties in Slovakia.

Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) include various hematologic abnormalities characterized by chronic cytopenia due to disruption in cellular differentiation. This study aims to evaluate the prognostic value of PLR in patients with MDS. ⋯ Our study demonstrated that there was a relationship between PLR and MDS with multilineage dysplasia (mld-MDS). PLR is investigated as an inflammatory finding in various hematologic malignancies. Further studies investigating the value of PLR in MDS are needed to determine whether PLR may be a marker of bone marrow dysplasia grading (Tab. 2, Fig. 4, Ref. 32).

Nicotine at high concentrations induces apoptosis in trophoblastic cells through induction of cell cytotoxicity and Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS). Methamphetamine in low dose has pharmaceutical properties. It seems that this components in low dose can protect the trophoblastic cells from nicotine-induced cell death. ⋯ Methamphetamine in very low dose suppressed the JEG-3 cell death induced by high dose of nicotine (Fig. 5, Ref. 48) Keywords: methamphetamine, nicotine, cell death, NO.
