Hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy is one of the main causes of neonatal deaths. The objective of this study was to evaluate the neuroprotective effect of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of sodium hydrosulfide (NaHS) in neonatal rats with hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy, as well as its effect on neuronal apoptosis through histopathological and biochemical tests. ⋯ NaHS given to hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy model significantly decreased apoptosis in neurons and had a neuroprotective efficacy with an increase in NGF levels (Tab. 1, Fig. 3, Ref. 25).

Betanin and copper sulphate have been previously indicated as beneficial agents for ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) as antioxidant compounds in various models. We investigated whether betanin and copper have any protective effects on the heart and lung against I/R injury in rats. ⋯ Betanin and copper may have protective effects on I/R injury in the heart and lung in rats (Fig. 6, Ref. 39).

Obesity induced by a high fat diet is associated with chronic up-regulation of inflammatory cytokines which stimulate osteoclast activity and bone resorption. However, the role of high-fat diet on bone-implant connectivity has not been studied in detail. In this study, we investigated whether a high-fat diet (HFD) affects bone implant connection (BIC) in periimplant bone. ⋯ In conclusion, within the limitation of this research, HFD did not effect the BIC rat tibias (Tab. 2, Fig. 2, Ref. 26). In the pregnancy period, it is recommended to limit the consumption of caffeine. However, the mechanisms of caffeine effect during pregnancy are not fully known. In our study, we aimed to investigate the effect of prenatal caffeine consumption on the embryonic implantation in rats as well as shed light on the relationship between the molecules and implantation stages.MATERIALS AND METHODS: Forty-five Wistar albino pregnant rats were randomly divided into 3 main groups, namely into control, low‑dose and high‑dose groups, representing the dose-dependent effects of caffeine. Each main group was divided into 3 subgroups, namely those to be sacrified on days 4 (pre-implantation), 5 (peri-implantation) and 6 (post-implantation) . Different doses of caffeine were given on consecutive days, starting from day 1 of pregnancy up to the day of euthanasia. The implantation sites were investigated with the use of hematoxylin et eosin, Masson trichrome and immunostaining of VEGF, MMP-9, integrin αVβ3, mucin-1 and HB-EGF. ⋯ It has been shown that the levels of integrin αVβ3 and MMP-9 were decreased by prenatal caffeine consumption in rats, which resulted in a decrease in embryo implantation in a dose-dependent manner, especially in the high-dose group (Fig. 5, Ref. 36). Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSC) have recently been predicted to have a major therapeutic potential due to secretion of soluble factors and the release of cytokines and growth factors, which could mediate the cellular communication to induce cell differentiation/maturity. The aim of the present study was to determine the effect of mBM condition medium on morphine-induced cell death in PC12, U87, AGS and MCF-7 cell lines. The condition media were harvested as mBM soup (mBM soup 24 and mBM soup 48h, respectively). ⋯ Viability assay showed that mBM soup (24 and 48 h) in time-dependent manner increased cell viability (pndings suggest that mBM soup can enhance the proliferation and growth of cell lines and can suppress cell death induced by morphine (Fig. 8, Ref. 59).
