Based on a longtime voluntary registry founded by the Ministry of Healthcare of the Slovak Republic in 2012 and endorsed by the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases, well-defined data of all adult cardiac surgery procedures performed during the year 2021 are analyzed. ⋯ These annually registered data are collected from voluntary public reporting and accumulate actual information on nearly all heart procedures carried out in the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases. These data capture advancements in heart medicine and represent the basis for quality management. In addition, the registry demonstrates that the provision of cardiac surgery in Slovakia is up to date, appropriate, and nationwide patient treatment is guaranteed all the time (Tab. 14, Fig. 2, Ref. 5). Our aim was to determine the effect of immunomodulatory therapy in women with chronic and recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis (RVVC). ⋯ We provide current knowledge about alternative (autovaccine) treatment options for female patients with VVC and RVVC diseases and our experience with the outcomes after autovaccine administration that currently has a promising therapeutic potential (Tab. 2, Ref. 18). Diabetic nephropathy is one of the major complications of Type 2 diabetes mellitus. In this study, we aimed to investigate the effects of angiotensinogen M235T/T174M and angiotensin type 1 receptor A1166C gene polymorphisms on the development of diabetic nephropathy in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. ⋯ The results showed no significant difference in angiotensinogen M235T/T174M and angiotensin type 1 receptor A1166C gene polymorphisms between the patient and control groups. Future studies are needed to validate the results of this study and to explore underlying mechanisms (Tab. 3, Fig. 3, Ref. 35). Sialendoscopy is a relatively new mini-invasive method that allows direct visualisation and intervention in the salivary gland ductal system. The aim of the study was to evaluate the results of sialendoscopy in the treatment of obstructive sialadenitis. ⋯ The study acknowledges the significant benefit of sialendoscopy in the treatment of obstructive sialadenitis (Tab. 3, Fig. 6, Ref. 39). Text in PDF www.elis.sk Keywords: sialendoscopy, sialadenitis, duct obstruction, sialolith, minimally invasive surgery.

The study presents associations between prevalence of chronic diseases and selected socio-economic (SES) attributes in adult population of Slovakia and analyses the prevalence of chronic diseases in regions of Slovakia. ⋯ The study did not confirm a higher prevalence of chronic diseases in regions with weaker SES in Slovakia. Out of the 4 monitored SES attributes, 3 of them (age, education and lifestyle) had a significant impact on the prevalence of chronic diseases. Household income showed only a minimal association with the prevalence of chronic diseases, but this interdependence was not significant (Tab. 6, Ref. 41).
