Choosing the method of revascularization - coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) or percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) - remains debatable. ⋯ After 9 ± 1.9 years in intermediate SS group CABG exhibited an advantage over PCI with DES in terms of the MACCE indicators due to a smaller number of RR in the CABG group. The CABG group showed a more significant progression of atherosclerosis, and more heart failure cases (Tab. 2, Fig. 4, Ref. 29). Recently, trabeculectomy with mitomycin C (MMC) where MMC is applied by injection into the Tenon layer has attracted close attention. However, the data on efficacy and safety of this technique is still limited and more clinical studies are needed. Therefore, the work is aimed at comprehensive evaluation of the effectiveness of trabeculectomy using MMC applied by intra-Tenon injection. ⋯ Trabeculectomy using MMC applied by injection is a safe and effective surgical method for the treatment of primary and secondary forms of open-angle glaucoma. It has a significant hypotonising effect and allows a complete discontinuation of antiglaucoma drugs (Tab. 3, Fig. 3, Ref. 58).

The use of antibiotic prophylaxis in invasive procedures is generally accepted and highly recommended. The question is the need to apply antibiotic prophylaxis even in the case of mini-invasive procedures in the post-transplantation period. The aim of the study was to dermine the occurrence of infectious complications during mini-invasive procedures (pig-tail extraction, protocol biopsy) withou the use of antibiotic (ATB) prophylaxis. The secondary aim was to identify risk factors for a positive urine culture finding at the time of mini-invasive procedures. ⋯ The use of antibiotic prophylaxis during mini-invasive procedures (pig-tail extraction, protocol biopsy) in the posttransplantation period had no effect on positive culture findings at our department. Based on our analysis, we therefore do not use antibiotic prophylaxis in the case of these procedures at our centre (Tab. 3, Fig. 6, Ref. 23).

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is an irreversible disease and has influence on patients' quality of life. The aim is to investigate the influence of gender on the illness perception in COPD patients. ⋯ COPD is no longer a disease that predominantly affects men. BIPQ is a convenient tool for fast assessment of illness perception for COPD. Patients' perceptions of COPD is in correlation with gender and GOLD stadium. The results of this study have potential benefits in terms of health promotion and improvement of the quality of life and outcome (Fig. 4, Ref. 21).

Inflammatory markers indicate immune system responses. ⋯ The NLR, PLR, and RDW were not predictive in this study because we only included early- stage patients lacking lymph node involvement and the follow-up was short. In patients with renal cell carcinomas, the RDW and PLR increase with the tumor burden and predict poor prognosis (Tab. 5, Fig. 1, Ref. 23).
