The objective was to prove efficiency of tracheal resection in the cohort of patients of our clinic and to introduce our own modification of T-cannula as a surgical alternative if tracheal resection is contraindicated. ⋯ Tracheal resection is a safe and effective procedure with good results. T- tube insertion presents a surgical alternative if bronchoscopy is unavailable or failed (Tab. 4, Fig. 2, Ref. 20).

Present study has been carried out to analyze the IL-17R gene expression in PBMCs of patients with premature coronary artery disease (CAD) in comparison to normal controls. ⋯ It has been concluded that IL-17R plays an important role in the pathogenesis of CAD. It follows that superior understanding of IL-17/IL-17R signaling way will be vital for innovating novel therapeutic targets that will facilitate the designing of new drugs for the management of patients (Ref. 40).

Neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet/lymphocyte ratio (PLR) and mean platelet volume (MPV) are markers reflecting the inflammation process that can be easily calculated in the hemogram examination. In this study, we aimed to investigate the changes in NLR, PLR and MPV values in patients who attempted suicide by taking drugs. ⋯ The high detection of these markers of inflammation suggests that it may be a marker predictive of suicide attempt by taking medication (Tab. 4, Ref. 28).

Abnormal neutrophil extracellular traps are associated with lung diseases, thrombosis, increased mucosal secretion in the airways. The aim of this study is to evaluate the possible place of the most specific NETosis marker Cit-H3 protein in diagnostic algorithms by revealing its relationship with the severity, mortality and prognosis of SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia. ⋯ Cit-H3 plays a role in inflammatory processes in SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia, and changes in serum Cit-H3 levels of these patients can be used to determine prognosis and mortality (Tab. 5, Fig. 1, Ref. 21).

Life expectancy of cancer patients determine the regimen of treatment. There is no feasible marker that determines the survival other than the stage of the disease or other patients related factors. Bilirubin can be a revealing marker for these. The effect of bilirubin may be due to the fact that the genetic and biochemical processes of bilirubin also modulate the tumour microenvironment. Radiotherapy and bilirubin can produce an effect similar to metformin via AMPK pathway. ⋯ Plasma bilirubin level at the time of diagnosis affects the survival of the patients independent of cancer stage and tumour volume. Possible additive interactions of radiotherapy and bilirubin are discussed with their pathophysiological mechanisms (Tab. 2, Fig. 7, Ref. 26).
