We decided to compare the incidence and spectrum of pelvic fractures in 2020 affected by the anti-pandemic measures due to COVID-19 with previous years 2018 and 2019. ⋯ We observed the increased number of suicidal attempts only on a limited number of specific patients with pelvic fractures; therefore, we cannot formulate any general conclusions regarding the incidence of suicide during the COVID-19 pandemic. Nevertheless, we consider this to be a warning signal highlighting the worsened population mental health due to COVID-19 pandemic (Tab. 2, Fig. 1, Ref. 34).

The result of a kidney transplantation may be affected by certain congenital or acquired urological diseases that need to be addressed before, during or after the kidney transplant. Complications accompanying kidney transplantation are not fundamentally different from the events that accompany other difficult surgical procedures. However, their course is usually modified by adverse circumstances in the recipient - uremia, dialysis treatment, immunosuppression. ⋯ Other complications are bacterial and viral infections and malignancies. All these complications require a rapid and accurate diagnosis and subsequent targeted treatment with intention to maintain a functional kidney transplant (Fig. 11, Ref. 36). To evaluate the effect of hypernatremia on the organization of blood plasma high density lipoproteins (HDL) in goldfish; to compare the state of hypernatremia in fish and humans; to assess the possible risks and consequences of the effect of hypernatremia on human plasma lipoproteins. ⋯ In goldfish at the state of normonatremia, large forms of HDL are stable while at the state of hypernatremia, the small forms of HDL are stable. Under conditions of a hypertonic environment and plasma hypernatremia, the breakdown of HDL prevents the loss of water from the fish organism and reduces the threat of their dehydration. Human hypernatremia is characterized by plasma sodium levels comparable to that in goldfish, however accompanied by life-threatening metabolic changes. The results of this study may be useful for assessing the risks of HDL breakdown at hypernatremia and for the development of protocols for the treatment of pathological conditions in humans (Fig. 4, Ref. 45).

Increased ROS has been reported to cause a change in E- and N-cadherin levels, and consequently promotes migrative behaviors in pancreas and breast cancer cells. In this study, the effect of a sublethal dose of H2O2 on E- and N-cadherin levels, and on migrative behaviors of PCa cells was investigated. ⋯ Increased ROS alters E- and N-cadherin levels in an ERK-dependent manner and thereby promotes the migrative abilities of PCa cells (Fig. 3, Ref. 32).

In our study, it was aimed to find out whether it would be possible to determine the disease severity by comparing the values of red cell distribution width (RDW), c-reactive protein (CRP), CRP/albumin, neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and platelet/lymphocyte ratio (PLR) in patients with acute pancreatitis according to Bedside Index of Severity in Acute Pancreatitis (BISAP) scores at the time of admission. ⋯ CRP/albumin, NLR, PLR, and RDW values were found to be statistically significantly higher in patients with severe acute pancreatitis compared to those with mild acute pancreatitis according to the BISAP score (pthat this scoring system could be a practical and reliable guide in the treatment and follow-up of patients with acute pancreatitis (Tab. 6, Fig. 3, Ref. 22).
