Novel and emerging concepts in the role of steroids in thyroid cancer promotion and progression.
Thyroid cancer (TC) is becoming more common all over the world. It is, however, frequently neglected from a scientific standpoint, as they rarely result in a fatal conclusion. The female gender is disproportionately affected, with a frequency of 3 to 5 times higher depending on the severity of the condition, which may or may not cause severe physical discomfort but has a significant influence on life quality. ⋯ On the contrary, excessive or uncontrolled exposure to different hormones, particularly steroids, has been shown to impact the development of thyroid illnesses. The goal of this review is to look at the function of steroids in the expansion and progression of thyroid malignancy (Ref. 54). Keywords: thyroid cancer, signaling, steroid hormone.

Many of the deletions and large mutations found in the Omicron version of COVID-19 are identical to those seen in the α, π, β, and δ based VOCs. Such deletions and alterations have long been known to increase the viral risk of transmission and binding ability. Additionally, these changes are anticipated to increase the chances of immunological evasion and antibody secretion. ⋯ This review sheds insight on several genetic mutations and their evolution in distinct variations. However, further study is needed to improve our understanding of illness transmissibility, immune escape capacity, patient features and severity, and the use of further diagnostic and therapeutic techniques (Fig. 1, Ref. 20). Keywords: SARS-CoV-2, global vaccination, booster doses, COVID-19.

To characterize the perinatal outcomes of pregnancies complicated by spontaneous previable premature rupture of membranes with a therapeutic intervention in the form of amniopatch (AP) at the 2nd Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (2008‒2019). ⋯ Amniopatch can be a therapeutic method for reducing the neonatal mortality associated with RDS, maternal infectious morbidity, and an alternative in patients, who require an active approach to such a compromised pregnancy (Tab. 12, Fig. 1, Ref. 50).

Medicinal plants exert therapeutic effects or have beneficial healing functions on the human or animal body. Medicinal plants are widely used in traditional medicine as an interesting alternative and/or complementary to science-based medicine. Compared to chemical drugs, medicinal plants have a lower risk of side effects, are eco-friendly, and have cost-effective production. ⋯ Respiratory and cardiovascular effects are also reported. In this review, we will analyze and characterize the known roles of VAC in mastalgia, as well as the mechanism of action reported in in vitro and/or in vivo studies, and show the potential for alternative therapeutic uses in mastalgia, also known as breast pain (Fig. 2, Ref. 40). Keywords: mastalgia, Vitex agnus-castus, therapy, traditional medicine.
