The objective of this study was to identify the impact of the selected HLA-G gene polymorphisms in the 5'URR region on the risk to develop pre-eclampsia. ⋯ Our results suggest a genetic association of selected HLA-G 5'URR variants with a risk of developing pre-eclampsia and possible contribution of HLA-G to disease pathology (Tab. 4, Ref. 51).

Despite of being considered a routine procedure, cranioplasty is associated with a substantial risk of failure, or postoperative complications. ⋯ After a cranial reconstruction, complications with a various degree of severity may occur and even the result in need of the implant removal. Postoperative improvement of focal neuro-deficit is possible as well as improvement on the level of patient's consciousness (Tab. 2, Fig. 2, Ref. 61).

Mandibular condylar fractures account for 25 to 52 % of all mandibular fractures. Though current literature favors open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) of condylar‑base and low condylar‑neck fractures, extraoral approaches are usually considered to be complicated by the risk of facial nerve injury and other possible complications. This study was undertaken to demonstrate that the periangular transmasseteric infraparotid surgical approach (TMIP) to condylar‑base and low condylar‑neck fractures provides excellent access to the bony fragments with minimal risk of complications such as facial nerve and parotid gland injury. ⋯ The periangular infraparotid transmasseteric approach to ORIF of condylar‑base and low condylar‑neck fractures is an effective and safe approach allowing accurate anatomic reposition and fixation of the fragments with minimum surgical complications (Tab. 1, Fig. 12, Ref. 21).

Higher CSBP than brachial SBP in individual patient increases cardiovascular (CV) risk. For follow-up it is important to assess the reproducibility of such measurements. The aim of this study was to assess the reproducibility of these differences, expressed as a CSBP/BrachSBP ratios. ⋯ In our study, a high proportion (60 %) of treated hypertensive patients had CSBP higher than brachial SBP, which may adversely influence their prognosis. This characteristic is highly reproducible. Taking into the account these differences may increase the exactness of CV risk estimation and may contribute to explanation of residual risk of individual patient (Tab. 3, Fig. 1, Ref. 28).

To determine the impact of telemedicine visits, compared to in-person visits, on patient satisfaction in an established community hospital-based multidisciplinary central nervous system (CNS) clinic. ⋯ Patients who opted for the telemedicine visits found them just as effective as in-person visits, saving time and travel costs as well as ensuring patient safety during the current COVID-19 pandemic. The telemedicine visit platform facilitates the multidisciplinary clinic model and should be considered for more widespread utilization (Tab. 3, Fig. 1, Ref. 18).
