Studies assessing the unicentric and prospective comparison of efficacy of cryoballoon pulmonary vein isolation in idiopathic and non-idiopathic atrial fibrillation (AF) patients are missing. The aim of this study was to compare a single procedural outcome in these subgroups of AF patients. ⋯ A single cryoballoon pulmonary vein isolation was more effective in preventing atrial arrhythmias relapses in idiopathic AF patients compared to non-idiopathic AF patients. The best efficacy outcomes were observed in patients with paroxysmal idiopathic AF (Tab. 5, Fig. 2, Ref. 25).

The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of two abundant dietary supplements, quercetin and vitamin C on some factors involved in metastasis and proliferation of prostate cancer, which are resistant to conventional chemotherapies in late stages. ⋯ Our results indicated the beneficial effect of quercetin and vitamin C on prostate cancer cells with different metastatic sites and their differential response to the treatment which in turn may lead us to reach suitable therapeutic outcomes to combat cancer (Fig. 3, Ref. 36).

Although fibronectin has an important role in wound repair, nearly no human studies to date have investigated its condition in ulcerative colitis (UC) histologically. E-cadherin plays a critical role in the repair of normal epithelial tissues. This study aims to find out the condition of these two molecules in UC. ⋯ We suggest that the decrease in E-cadherin, even in the inactive period, might be the cause of why UC is not just a compensatory change in repair of inflammation. The results of staining with fibronectin in UC patients were between normal individuals and SCC patients. Further studies are necessary to confirm our results (Tab. 2, Fig. 6, Ref. 15). Although the data in the literature regarding the etiopathogenesis of adrenal adenomas are scarce, the neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR) is an easy-to-calculate parameter that has gained popularity in recent years as an indicator of subinflammation. In this study, we aimed to show the changes in NLR in patients with adrenal incidentaloma. ⋯ Adrenal incidentaloma has become one of the clinical problems frequently encountered by endocrinologists in recent years. Even when they are nonfunctional, they are thought to be associated with various metabolic disorders and inflammation. With this study, we have captured a clue to inflammation, and we are sharing the findings described herein (Tab. 1, Ref. 28) Keywords: adrenal, neutrophil, lymphocyte.

Biomechanical stress plays an essential role in coronary atherosclerosis (CAS), however, inter-relations between mechanical conditions and gene expressions remain unclear. ⋯ MMP1 and PDE2A up-regulations rely on increased WSS in development and risk of CAS, suggesting that their elevation may be potential target for diagnosis and treatment (Fig. 3, Ref. 28).
