SARS-CoV-2 Infection During Pregnancy-An Analysis of Clinical Data From Germany and Austria From the CRONOS Registry.
Using data from the German CRONOS registry, we assessed the risk of a complicated course of COVID-19 in women with a SARS-CoV-2-infection during pregnancy, with particular consideration of gestational age, vaccination status, and pandemic dynamics. ⋯ These findings can serve as a basis for counseling about prophylactic or therapeutic measures, such as the administration of monoclonal antibodies. They underscore the efficacy of vaccination for pregnant women even during the omicron phase of the pandemic.

Dissections of the cervical brain-supplying arteries are a leading cause of ischemic stroke in young adults, with an annual incidence of 2.5-3 / 100 000 for carotid artery dissection and 1-1.5 / 100 000 for vertebral artery dissection. It can be assumed that many cases go unreported. We present the clinical features here to help physicians diagnose this disease entity as rapidly as possible. ⋯ Dissection of the cervical brain-supplying vessels is not always revealed by the imaging methods that are used to detect it. Stroke prevention thus depends on the physician's being aware of the symptoms and signs of this disease entity, so that early diagnosis can be followed by appropriate treatment.

40 000 to 60 000 people develop malignant pleural effusion (MPE) in Germany each year. The most common causes are lung cancer and breast cancer. Patients with pleural carcinomatosis have a median survival time of four months. ⋯ The indication for either IPC or TP needs to be determined individually for each patient on the basis of his or her general condition, symptoms, clinical situation ("trapped lung"), and prognosis.
