The Care of Children and Adolescents With Chronic Inflammatory Bowel Disease: A Cluster-Randomized Trial on Improving the Guideline Conformity of Treatment by the Use of the CEDATA-GPGE Patient Registry.
For children and adolescents with chronic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), treatment that is not in adequate conformity with the guidelines can adversely affect both the course of disease and the patients' development. The targeted use of digital patient registries may improve real-life adherence to the recommendations of evidence-based guidelines. ⋯ Registry-based feedback can help bring treatment and its documentation into better con for - mity with the relevant guidelines and thereby reduce or prevent care deficits in children and adolescents with IBD.

Evaluation of a Digital Decision Aid for Knee Replacement Surgery: A Stepped-Wedge, Cluster-Randomized Trial.
We studied whether an individualized digital decision aid can improve decision-making quality for or against knee arthroplasty. ⋯ A digital decision aid significantly improved the quality of decision-making for or against knee replacement surgery. The widespread use of this instrument may have an even larger effect, as this trial was conducted mainly in hospitals with high case numbers.

Quality of Life and Patient Satisfaction After the Provision of an Orthopedic Knee Scooter—a Multicenter Randomized Controlled Trial.
Partial or total avoidance of weight-bearing by a lower limb is regularly needed after trauma and surgery. There are approximately 200 such cases per 100 000 persons per year. Forearm crutches have mainly been used in Germany until now to keep these patients mobile. For those who lack the strength or co - ordination needed to use crutches, a wheelchair may become necessary, or they might find themselves forced to continue weightbearing on the affected limb, with possible impending adverse consequences and complications. ⋯ The supplementary use of an orthopedic knee scooter can improve these patients' mobility and independence and prolong the distance over which they can transport themselves. For many patients, this form of treatment may well shorten the time of their total or partial inability to work and thus lower the socioeconomic costs of lower limb injuries and surgery.

Mistletoe Extract in Patients With Advanced Pancreatic Cancer: A Double-Blind, Randomized, Placebo-Controlled Tial (MISTRAL).
Patients with advanced pancreatic cancer have limited survival and few treatment options. We studied whether mistletoe extract (ME), in addition to comprehensive oncological treatment and palliative care, prolongs overall survival (OS) and improves health-related quality of life (HRQoL). ⋯ ME is unlikely to have a clinically significant effect on OS or the HRQoL dimension global health/QoL when administered in patients with advanced pancreatic cancer in addition to comprehensive cancer care.

Telephone Health Coaching and Remote Exercise Monitoring (TeGeCoach) in Peripheral Arterial Occlusive Disease—a Randomized Controlled Trial.
Supervised exercise programs are used to treat intermittent claudication (IC). Home-based exercise programs have been developed to lower barriers to participation. We studied the effects of one such exercise program (TeGeCoach) on self-reported walking ability in patients with IC. ⋯ Significant improvements regarding symptom burden demonstrate the benefit of a home-based exercise program and thus expand the opportunities for guideline-oriented treatment of IC. Future studies should additionally address the effect of home-based exercise programs on clinical variables by means of, for example, the 6-minute walk test.
