The provision of inclusive health services for older adults requires a holistic approach to the health needs of the ageing population and their social environment, to deliver an effective response. To describe the health needs of older adults and their social environment, as a basis for integration of primary health care services. A non-systematic narrative review of the literature was conducted based on an electronic database covering the period 2019-2023 along with a combination of citation references. ⋯ Two groups of health needs for older adults were identified: natural aging processes and disease processes. The social environment for these health needs were conceptualized in three interconnected dimensions: socioeconomic conditions, health services, and place of residence. Understanding the elements underlying the health needs which are determined by contextual conditions, supports strategies to improve services for older adults as part of the primary health care approach.

The transdermal patch is an effective contraceptive with advantages over other hormonal methods. However, the percentage of patch's users is 2.8 %. ⋯ The transdermal patch is an effective and safe alternative; increasing its functional knowledge can help reduce the unmet need.

Humans are exposed every day to innumerable external stimuli, both environmental and microbial. Immunological memory recalls each specific stimulus and mounts a secondary response that is faster and of a larger magnitude than the primary response; this process constitutes the basis for vaccine development. ⋯ Memory T cells have an important role in the resolution of COVID-19, and they are key pillars of immunological memory. In this review, we summarize the main findings regarding anti-SARS-CoV-2 memory T cells after infection, after vaccination, and after the combination of these two events ("hybrid immunity"), and analyze how these cells can contribute to long-term protection against the infection with SARS-CoV-2 variants.

FRAX®, a risk calculator that provides individualized 10-year probabilities of hip and major osteoporotic fracture, has been widely used for fracture risk assessment since its launch in 2008. It is now incorporated into very many guidelines worldwide to inform osteoporosis management. ⋯ We also discuss the limitations of FRAX and the arithmetic adjustments that have been proposed to address these. The introduction of FRAXplus® includes these adjustments on a web-based platform for ease of application to enhance treatment decisions in osteoporosis.

Progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) is a rare, atypical parkinsonism, characterized by the presence of intracerebral tau protein aggregates and determined by a wide spectrum of clinical features. The definitive diagnosis is postmortem and is identified through the presence of neuronal death, gliosis, and aggregates of the tau protein presented in the form of neurofibrillary tangles (MNF) with a globose appearance in regions such as the subthalamic nucleus, the substantia nigra, and the globus pallidus The findings in ancillary imaging studies, as well as fluids biomarkers, are not sufficient to support diagnosis of PSP but are used to rule out similar pathologies because there are still no specific or validated biomarkers for this disease. ⋯ Cellular models constitute a good tool to determine the molecular mechanisms underlying them. Finally, PSP in Mexico has been little studied, and its diagnosis is often confused with Parkinson's disease, it has a great health and socio-economic impact on patients, their families, and caregivers, which is why it requires further investigation at both a basic and clinical level.
