Complex arthroplasties for periacetabular metastatic lesions can result in complications including infection and prosthesis loosening owing to poor bone quality. A new surgical protocol has been developed as a joint-sparing surgery to avoid complications after arthroplasties. The main surgical steps are: (a) conservative and accurate tumor resection with aid of 3D printing model-assisted preoperative resection simulation and preparation of pre-contour plate, (b) reconstruction with structural bone graft through the sandwich technique for augmentation of subchondral bone. ⋯ With precise tumor resection and reconstruction with sandwich procedure, the joint-sparing surgery can be performed in selected patients with metastatic periacetabular tumors.

Evaluation of the optimal cutoff number of types of social participation activities in older people.
Social participation activities have a close association with health aging. However, the clinical significance of numbers of social participation activities and its cutoff value has not been defined. ⋯ Our findings found an adequate cutoff with better differential power in the psychopathology and happiness of older people that provided a basis for application in intervention and policy formation.

Diabetes, dyslipidemia, obesity, and cardiac dysfunction are the hallmarks of the cardiometabolic syndrome. Pathogens include hypercoagulability, inflammation, endothelial dysfunction, and oxidative stress. Increased white fat, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease are caused by obesity. ⋯ However, anxiety and depression can cause cardiovascular disease. It has been shown that PUFAs found in fish oil can improve glucose and lipid metabolism, cardiac membrane composition, and inflammation in the body. By repairing the dysregulation of metabolic syndrome, fish oil is a potential therapeutic target for cardiovascular diseases.

Practice Guideline
Taiwanese dermatological association (TDA) consensus for the management of pemphigus.
Pemphigus is an uncommon but life-threatening autoimmune blistering disease characterized by the presence of antibodies against desmogleins. Without effective treatment, pemphigus can result in significant morbidity and mortality. Existing consensus statements on pemphigus management from international medical groups provide varying guidelines, especially on treatment. ⋯ The meeting reviewed the available consensus statements from international dermatology groups, including the European Dermatology Forum (EDF), the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV), and the International Bullous Diseases Consensus Group. Using these guidelines as a basis for discussion and consensus formulation, these experts formulated their consensus statement that provides practical, concise but comprehensive recommendations as to the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of pemphigus patients in Taiwan. This consensus serves as a clinical reference for physicians for the management of pemphigus in Taiwan or wherever it may be applicable.
