Impact of glucose-containing fluid on acute pancreatitis outcomes: A multicenter retrospective analysis.
Fluid resuscitation reduces mortality and morbidity in acute pancreatitis (AP); however, whether glucose-containing fluids negatively impact AP remains uncertain. We aimed to examine the association between glucose-containing fluids and AP outcomes. ⋯ Excess glucose-containing fluid was associated with increased risks of overall, respiratory, and cardiovascular OF and ICU admission in AP.

Taiwan had high cesarean rate which exceeded the recommended threshold (15%), set by WHO. However, there have not a comprehensive study to discuss the long-term offspring consequences of cesarean section (CS). This study aimed to show whether allergy disorders, obesity and respiratory infection of children are associated with modes of delivery, using the National Health Insurance Research Database (NHIRD) of Taiwan. ⋯ This study indicated that children delivered by CS more commonly developed respiratory tract infections, asthma, allergic rhinitis, atopic dermatitis, obesity than children delivered vaginally. Among these, obesity have a stronger association with cesarean section.

To elucidate the prevalence of overt, occult and no demonstrated (ND) stress urinary incontinence (SUI) in women with advanced-stage cystoceles. ⋯ SUI occurs in a ratio of 3:1:1 among cases with overt, occult, and no demonstrable symptoms. BO is the most common urodynamic diagnosis. Pad test with prolapse reduction remains an important tool, especially for coexistent stage 3 uterine prolapse.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) that against programmed cell death protein-1 (PD-1) and its ligand PD-L1 have been approved as a promising treatment of many human cancers. However, the responses to these ICIs were limited in patients with ovarian cancer. Studies have indicated that the response to PD-1/PD-L1 blockade might be correlated with the PD-L1 expression level in cancer cells. Nucleophosmin (NPM/B23) was found to be a potential target for immunotherapy. Whether NPM/B23 plays a role in cancer-associated immunity, such as PD-1/PD-L1 axis, and its underlying mechanisms remain largely unknown in ovarian cancer. ⋯ Targeting NPM/B23 is a novel and potential therapeutic approach to sensitize ovarian cancer cells to immunotherapy.
