To determine the yield of Gastric lavage (GL) in non-expectorating adults with suspected Pulmonary Tuberculosis (PTB) and accuracy of GL-AFB smear with GL-GeneXpert (GXP) by taking AFB culture as gold standard. ⋯ Yield of GL significant to detect PTB in suspected cases who are not expectorating. GL-GXP diagnostic accuracy and sensitivity is higher than GL-AFB smear.

Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) is a common condition. With increasing lifespan and emphasis on quality of life worldwide, older women with POP may prefer surgical treatment, including colpocleisis. We reviewed the outcome of POP in a case series of colpocleisis. ⋯ Partial compared to total colpocleisis was associated with shorter operative time and less blood loss. Colpocleisis is a suitable surgical treatment for POP in elderly women who do not wish to preserve the vagina for sexual intercourse.

It's hard to deny the buffering impact of social support as it provides much-needed assistance to counter untoward circumstances that individuals face in their daily life. By focusing on the moderating role of social support, the present investigation studied the relationship between secondary traumatic stress and death anxiety that healthcare professionals encounter in their regular work life. ⋯ It can be concluded that increased social support could benefit healthcare professionals as it weakened the association between secondary traumatic stress and death anxiety. Other than academia and research, these findings have implications across a variety of professional settings including physical and mental healthcare professionals who can benefit from these indigenous findings.

To explore the factors affecting the intraoperative conversion of video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) to thoracotomy in patients with lung cancer. ⋯ Conversion from VATS to thoracotomy may increase the risk of complications in patients with lung cancer. Tumor in the upper lobe, central lung cancer, history of pulmonary tuberculosis, high degree of pleural adhesion and large tumor diameter are risk factors for conversion from VATS to thoracotomy.

To investigate the clinical effects of HBV infection on patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). ⋯ Patients in the RA and SLE groups after HBV infection have an increased degree of inflammatory response in their organism, an altered normal state of immunoglobulin and T-lymphocyte subsets, and a loss of organism immune function, leading to an increase in disease activity.
