Low Prevalence of Use of Allied Health and Community Services for Patients with Cirrhosis in Australia: A Need for Greater Engagement.
Psychosocial, lifestyle and practical needs are not routinely attended to during outpatient hepatology management, and little is known about the type and effectiveness of support services accessed by patients with cirrhosis. Derivation and Validation of a Prognostic Model for Acute Decompensated Cirrhosis Patients.
Acute decompensated cirrhosis (AD) is related to high medical costs and high mortality. We recently proposed a new score model to predict the outcome of AD patients and compared it with the common score model (CTP, MELD and CLIF-C AD score) in the training and validation sets. ⋯ This new score model appears to be a valid tool for assessing the long-term survival of AD patients, improving the prognostic value compared with the CTP, MELD and CLIF-C AD scores.

A Qualitative Exploration of Perceived Medication Adherence Determinants Conducted Among Older Adults with HIV and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.
People living with HIV (PLWH) are at higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes (T2DM). Both chronic conditions require individuals to adhere to medication regimens, yet few studies have sought to explore medication-taking behaviors among individuals with comorbid HIV and T2DM (HIV+T2DM). ⋯ As individuals with HIV develop chronic conditions, such as T2DM, they may require additional medication adherence support. Attention should be paid to offering support early. Disease perceptions may differ by condition, and as such, one's motivations to take medication as prescribed may also differ by condition.

Empowering Healthcare Through User Feedback: A Multidimensional Analysis of the Knowledge.
Feedback from service users is a valuable source for improving the quality of care and services, potentially reflecting the successes and failures in providing empowering healthcare. In supporting empowerment, the multidimensionality of knowledge of service users is assumed to be a crucial factor, yet feedback has not been explored from the perspective of empowering knowledge. In this study, the aim was to analyze the knowledge areas expressed in the service users' feedback from the point of view of empowering knowledge. ⋯ Register-based feedback is systematic data for quality evaluation. In this study, service users seem to actively evaluate the knowledge procession in care and services, and therefore, they can be actors involved in developing the quality of educational practices. It does, however, indicate a need to add multidimensionality and improve the quality of the knowledge, and by that, advance the potential of empowerment among diverse service users.
