Risk factors for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) asymptomatic carriage (AC) in healthcare workers (HCWs) have been scarcely characterized. ⋯ HCW category was the predominant factor associated with AC of SARS-CoV-2 in this study.

Despite the association of fibrinogen-to-albumin ratio (FAR) with the extent, severity, and complexity of coronary artery disease (CAD) in patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and stable CAD, no studies to date have specifically addressed this issue in patients with non-STEMI (NSTEMI). ⋯ These results indicate that FAR is a useful tool to predict intermediate-high SYNTAX scores in NSTEMI patients.

Early-onset diffuse gastric cancer (EODGC) occurs at or before 50 years of age. Pathogenic mutations and germline deletions in the CDH1 gene (E-cadherin) are well-documented genetic factors associated with the causes of EODGC. ⋯ Classical pathogenic germline mutations in the CDH1 gene were not found in these 7 EODGC patients. However, the in silico approaches revealed the possible involvement of a retrovirus and a shorter E-cadherin isoform in EODGC. Nevertheless, further in vitro and in vivo assays are needed to confirm these predictions.

In severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2)-associated disease coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), hypoxemia mechanisms differ from those observed in acute respiratory distress syndrome. Hypoxemia and respiratory failure in COVID- 19 are attributed to pulmonary angiopathy, increasing physiological pulmonary shunting1-3.

I was the Editor-in-Chief of the Revista de Investigación Clínica (RIC) from December 1999-May 2014. In this article, I present a review about how I initiated my experience in the RIC as an author, how I became the Editor-in-Chief, the philosophy of the RIC during my time, the type of publications we had and the citations these papers have received today, the special issues and consensus we published and how the RIC became the official publication of the Mexican Institutes of Health.
