Epidermodysplasia verruciformis (EV) is a rare genodermatosis characterized by abnormal susceptibility to infection with b-genotype human papillomavirus (HPV) and a particular propensity to develop cutaneous malignancies. Clinical manifestations include flat, scaly, reddish hypo- and hyperpigmented macules, verruca-like papillomatous lesions, seborrheic keratosis- like lesions, and pink-red pityriasis versicolor-like lesions1.

The biomarker for left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) in patients with essential hypertension (EH) remains an unmet clinical need. The microRNA-30 (miR-30) family has been associated with LVH in cellular and animal studies, but not in a clinical setting. ⋯ Circulating miR-30e level can be used as a biomarker in distinguishing EH-LVH from EH-nLVH. A further prospective study is warranted to validate this finding.

Body composition assessment in breast cancer survivors (BCSs) is essential to plan feasible dietary strategies for sarcopenic obesity prevention. ⋯ RFM and body weight in breast cancer survivors decreased after an individualized nutrition intervention according to socioeconomic status and grocery shopping consumer behavior. Based on the participants' food preferences and consumer behavior, plant-based protein diet plans cost less than the animal-based protein diet plans.

Artificial intelligence (AI) in radiology has improved diagnostic performance and shortened reading times of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients' studies. ⋯ The AI-calculated CT severity score and total opacity percentage showed good diagnostic accuracy for mortality and met MV criteria. The proposed prognostic models using biochemical variables and imaging data measured by AI on chest CT showed good risk classification in our population of hospitalized COVID-19 patients.

Recently, studies had shown that incretin-based therapies could reduce the levels of pro-inflammatory markers. The data on the effects of incretin-based therapies on serum high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) in type 2 diabetes (T2DM) were inconsistent. ⋯ This meta-analysis suggests that incretin-based therapies, both GLP-1 RAs and DPP-4Is, can cause a significant reduction in hs-CRP in patients with T2DM, which is related to long intervention duration, better glycemic control, and more BMI decline.
