Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
Effect of hypotensive anesthesia on cognitive functions. A comparison of esmolol and remifentanil during tympanoplasty.
To compare the effects of esmolol and remifentanil, used as adjuncts for induced hypotension on surgical conditions and short-term cognitive functions, during tympanoplasty. ⋯ Remifentanil or esmolol provided adequate induced hypotension and similar operating conditions and their effects on cognitive functions in the short postoperative period are similar for tympanoplasty.

To evaluate the Humphrey visual field parameters in patients with pituitary adenoma and classify the visual field defects in this patient group. ⋯ Although ophthalmologists rarely have a role in the primary diagnosis of hypophyseal adenoma, routine ophthalmologic examination is still important. To detect early visual field abnormalities, automated perimetry should be performed as a part of routine examination in patients with suspected hypophyseal adenomas.

Rapid sequence induction and intubation with 1 mg/kg rocuronium bromide in cesarean section, comparison with suxamethonium.
To demonstrate that Rocuronium Bromide can be used for rapid sequence induction in emergency conditions. ⋯ Rocuronium Bromide 1 mg/kg can be safely used for rapid sequence induction in cesarean section and the intubating conditions are similar to those of Suxamethonium.

Headache is a common complaint, occurring in >90% of school age children. The frequency increases with increasing age and the etiologies range from tension to life-threatening infections and brain tumors. Migraine is the most frequent cause of acute and recurrent headaches in children. ⋯ The Quality Standards Subcommittee of the American Academy of Neurology AAN and the Practice Committee of Child Neurology Society CNS recommendations for neuroimaging of children with recurrent headaches concluded that routine neuroimaging is not indicated if the neurological examination is normal. Neuroimaging should be considered in children with recent onset of severe headache, change in the headache type, associated focal neurological features, or seizures. Trends in the management guidelines will be highlighted.
