To study the genotype and allele frequency of the fat mass and obesity-associated (FTO) rs8050136 A>C genetic variant and investigate its association with type 2 diabetes mekkitus (T2DM) parameters. ⋯ Our findings show that the FTO rs8050136 A>C variant is not associated with T2DM in the Saudi population.

To determine the prevalence and demographic data regarding incidentally encountered elastofibroma dorsi (EFD) in the Saudi population-based on chest CT (computed tomography) scans. ⋯ Elastofibroma dorsi is a rare but uncommon incidental finding on routine chest CT examination encountered in 0.8% of elderly Saudi patients.

To investigate the risk factors of perioperative in-hospital death in elderly patients with hip fracture and the applicability of risk assessment tools. ⋯ Early operation is the key factor to reduce mortality in elderly patients with hip fracture, and the comorbidities in the basic state of the elderly are the independent risk factors of death; NHFS is recommended to estimate death risk in geriatric hip fractures.

Peer-assisted versus expert-assisted learning in virtual chest x-ray interpretation: A randomized controlled trial.
To compare the effectiveness of peer-assisted learning (PAL) and expert-assisted learning (EAL) in terms of knowledge gain in virtual chest x-ray (CXR) interpretations. The secondary objective was to assess students' satisfaction levels between both groups. ⋯ Peer-assisted learning has equivalent efficacy compared to EAL in a virtual setting. The Students in the PAL group had higher level of satisfaction.

To evaluated obesity-related morbidity prevalence among overweight/obese children and adolescents in Saudi Arabia, adiposity indicators and insulin resistance as obesity-related morbidity predictors. ⋯ Obesity-related morbidity is widely prevalent among obese children and insulin resistance is a key factor in its prediction. Clinical adiposity indices, given their accuracy and practicability, are important predictors of obesity-related morbidity.
