Increased length of stay (LOS) in the palliative care unit (PCU) is a serious burden to the patients and the health care system. The predictors of longer LOS in a PCU have not been reported so far from Turkey. Our aim in this study was to evaluate the factors associated with the LOS in the PCU of a tertiary hospital. ⋯ A longer length of PCU stay is associated with mobilization limitation, tube feeding, permanent tracheostomy, and hypertension. We found no evidence that age, infections or pressure ulcers on admission were associated with extra LOS in the PCU in patients discharged home.

Chitotriosidase (ChT) is an enzyme secreted by activated macrophages and neutrophils in response to proinflammatory signals. There is growing evidence indicating that ChT activity reflects the systemic inflammatory status. This study aimed to investigate whether serum ChT activity increased in patients with psoriasis and related comorbidities. ⋯ Our data support the pathogenetic role of inflammatory processes induced by macrophage activation in patients with psoriasis and related comorbidities. We believe that high ChT activity in patients with psoriasis may serve as an early prediction of the possible related comorbidities.

Pulse Steroid Treatment for Hospitalized Adults with COVID-19.
High-dose steroid has been shown to reduce the mortality rate in Corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients who need oxygen support. Here, we evaluated the effectiveness of pulse-steroid in case of unresponsiveness to treatment with high dose steroid. ⋯ Pulse-steroid treatment would be an option for COVID-19 patients who do not respond to the initial high-dose steroid treatment.

We evaluated the feasibility of producing splints with 3D printer technology to prevent contractures in burned children in our clinical prospective study. ⋯ The 3D printer seems to be useful in children with burns. However, difficulties caused by some reasons like production must be overcome. By increasing clinical experience, this emerging custom-made technology may become standard, and documented problems can be solved.

To date, the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused more than 2.6 million deaths all around the world. Risk factors for mortality remain unclear. The primary aim was to determine the independent risk factors for 28-day mortality. ⋯ Early detection of the risk factors and the use of chest CT score might improve the outcomes in patients with COVID-19.
