This study analyzed peripheral blood lymphocyte subsets to determine their role in the etiopathogenesis of IGM. ⋯ Idiopathic granulomatous mastitis is defined as a localized form of granulomatous disorders. However, the observed changes in T cells, NK, and NKT cells suggest that there is systemic immune dysregulation in patients with IGM.

The present study aimed to determine the association between attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) symptoms severity, fibromyalgia (FM) severity, and QoL. ⋯ Our findings indicated that the presence of ADHD symptoms was related to greater FM symptom severity and poorer QoL. Also, ADHD scores would mediate the relationship between depression severity and QoL.

We aimed to determine the presence of subclinical atherosclerosis using carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) and biochemical parameters in children and adolescents with congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH). ⋯ In this study, the CIMT values of CAH cases were similar to those of healthy subjects.

The criteria for surgical management of ureteropelvic junction obstruction are not well-defined, and there is a risk for loss of renal function before the operation. In this context, certain changes in contralateral kidney had been investigated in order to increase the sensitivity of diagnosis. In this study, we aimed to investigate whether contralateral transient minimal hydronephrosis (CTMH) can be considered as an “early alarm” sign for worsening of the affected kidney in infants with hydronephrosis. ⋯ In our study, among the variables investigated, CTMH was found as an independent predictor of the deterioration in the affected kidney and poor prognosis in infants followed-up with isolated unilateral hydronephrosis. Additionally, CTMH can be considered as an “early alarm” sign for worsening of the affected kidney and the need for surgical intervention.

Treatment of severe hypercapnic respiratory failure (HRF) has some challenges in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), especially when lung protective ventilation (LPV) strategies are required. Extracorporeal CO2 removal (ECCO2R) therapy is an emerging option to manage hypercapnia while allowing LPV in these cases. However, further data on ECCO2R use is still needed to make clear recommendations. ⋯ ECCO2R therapy significantly improved survival, iMV duration and LOS in patients with severe HRF due to COPD or ARDS, and successfully provided LPV approaches. Further studies are needed to assess promising benefits of ECCO2R therapy.
