Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyLong-term results of maintenance treatment of mitomycin C or alternating mitomycin C and bacillus Calmette-Guérin instillation therapy of patients with carcinoma in situ of the bladder: a subgroup analysis of the prospective FinnBladder 2 study with a 17-year follow-up.
Only a few studies with a long-term follow-up exist on patients with carcinoma in situ (CIS) treated with instillation therapy. The objective was to study the long-term outcome of patients with CIS after mitomycin C (MMC) monotherapy or alternating therapy with MMC and bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG). ⋯ The long-term bladder cancer-specific mortality was unexpectedly low despite the relatively ineffective instillation therapy and the poor outcome of the patients after progression.

Sleep quality and its correlates in patients on continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis.
The aim of this study was to investigate demographic, clinical and psychosocial factors associated with sleep quality in patients on continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD). ⋯ Although poor sleepers had lower nutritional indices, an elevated BDI was the only independent predictor of poor sleep quality. Poor sleep quality was also associated with lower QoL in patients on CAPD.

Obesity is associated with an improved cancer-specific survival, but an increased rate of postoperative complications after surgery for renal cell carcinoma.
This study aimed to assess the impact of preoperative body mass index (BMI) on postoperative complications, cancer-specific survival (CSS) and overall survival (OS) in patients operated for renal cell carcinoma (RCC). ⋯ In this material, increasing BMI was associated with improved CSS for presumed radically treated patients. However, obese patients had a higher total rate of postoperative complications.

Long-term risk of progression of carcinoma in situ of the bladder and impact of bacille Calmette-Guérin immunotherapy on the outcome.
This study aimed to determine the long-term risk of cancer progression of carcinoma in situ (CIS) of the urinary bladder, and whether intravesical bacille Calmette-Guérin (BCG) immunotherapy can reduce the risk of progression of CIS. ⋯ CIS in the absence of invasive (T1) disease carried a 10-year risk of progression of 29?48%. Although BCG was effective against CIS, this effect was limited to the bladder. BCG provided a marginal, but significant reduction in the overall long-term risk of progression.

Determination of sleep quality and fatigue level of patients receiving continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis in Turkey.
This descriptive study was performed to determine sleep quality, fatigue levels and related factors in patients receiving continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) treatment, as well as the effect of their sleep quality on fatigue. ⋯ Fatigue, sleep quality and related factors were determined in patients receiving peritoneal dialysis. The results of this study will be helpful in guiding future nursing methods for CAPD patients who experience fatigue and sleep problems.
