[Significance of the ratio of plasma vascular endothelial growth factor level to platelet count in the prognosis of patients with sepsis].
To investigate the clinical value of the ratio of plasma vascular endothelial growth factor level to platelet count (VEGF/PLT) in predicting 28-day prognosis in patients with sepsis. ⋯ VEGF/PLT can be used as one of the indicators to predict 28-day survival in patients with sepsis.

[The significance of serum N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide levels for prognosis of patients in intensive care unit].
To assess the significance of elevated serum N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) levels in predicting 30-day mortality rate for patients in intensive care unit (ICU). ⋯ Elevated NT-proBNP level in ICU patients signify severity of the disease, and it is an independent predictor of death of ICU patients.

[Procalcitonin for the differential diagnosis of infectious and non-infectious systemic inflammatory response syndrome after cardiac operation].
To assess the value of procalcitonin (PCT) for the differential diagnosis between infectious and non-infectious systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) after cardiac operation. ⋯ PCT was a useful marker for the diagnosis of infectious SIRS after cardiac operation as compared with WBC and CRP. The optimal PCT cut-off value for diagnosing infectious SIRS was 0.47 fLg/L.

To investigate N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) cutoff value for the mortality in different age groups in critically ill patients. ⋯ NT-proBNP cutoff value in different age groups for the prediction of mortality in the critically ill patients maybe more objective and accurate.
