[The significance of serum N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide levels for prognosis of patients in intensive care unit].
To assess the significance of elevated serum N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) levels in predicting 30-day mortality rate for patients in intensive care unit (ICU). ⋯ Elevated NT-proBNP level in ICU patients signify severity of the disease, and it is an independent predictor of death of ICU patients.

[Procalcitonin for the differential diagnosis of infectious and non-infectious systemic inflammatory response syndrome after cardiac operation].
To assess the value of procalcitonin (PCT) for the differential diagnosis between infectious and non-infectious systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) after cardiac operation. ⋯ PCT was a useful marker for the diagnosis of infectious SIRS after cardiac operation as compared with WBC and CRP. The optimal PCT cut-off value for diagnosing infectious SIRS was 0.47 fLg/L.

[N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide value for prediction of mortality among critically ill patients in different age groups in intensive care unit].
To investigate N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) cutoff value for the mortality in different age groups in critically ill patients. ⋯ NT-proBNP cutoff value in different age groups for the prediction of mortality in the critically ill patients maybe more objective and accurate.

[Inhibitory effect of kukoamine B on lung inflammatory responses in mice with sepsis].
To investigate the inhibitory effect of kukoamine B (KB) on lung inflammatory responses in mice with sepsis and its possible molecular mechanism. ⋯ KB, as a neutralizer of LPS, can inhibit the release of inflammatory mediators, reduce the pulmonary inflammatory response and protect the function of lung in septic mice.

Review Meta Analysis[Erythromycin for improving enteral nutrition tolerance in adult critical patients: a systematic review and meta-analysis].
To systematically review the efficacy and safety of erythromycin on enteral nutrition (EN) tolerance in adult critical care patients. ⋯ Postpyloric EN tube placement rate can be improved by erythromycin, which could be a choice of substitute for bedside intubation without fluoroscopy or endoscopic assistance. Based on the evidence, we recommended that intravenous erythromycin in a small dose of approximately 3 mg/kg weight as an option for EN intolerance in critical patients.
