Endoscopic treatment of rectal neuroendocrine tumors in a 13-year retrospective single-center study. Are we following the guidelines?
Rectal neuroendocrine neoplasms (rNENs) are potentially metastatic lesions. False endoscopic diagnosis and subsequent treatment may lead to nonradical resection and metastases. ⋯ In most cases, the origin of the lesion was not suspected on colonoscopy and subsequently the tumor was removed using an inappropriate method. Endoscopists do not follow the guidelines when dealing with patients with rNENs and more emphasis should be placed on education on the management of rNENs.

Inflammatory bowel disease is associated with higher seroprevalence rates of antibodies against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).
According to the current data, there has been no increase in the incidence of COVID‑19 in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). ⋯ Patients with IBD may be at higher risk of developing SARS‑CoV‑2 infection, defined as the presence of elevated levels of anti-SARS‑CoV‑2 IgG antibodies, but not of having a symptomatic and / or severe course of COVID‑19 compared with healthcare professionals without IBD.

ReviewPost-treatment surveillance in colorectal cancer patients: how to do it? A comprehensive review.
Patients who undergo a potentially curative treatment of colorectal cancer are at risk of local recurrences, distant metastases, and metachronous neoplasms. Accordingly, these patients typically undergo a multimodal oncological surveillance aimed to detect relapses early, with an expectation of a higher rate of radical retreatments and better overall survival. ⋯ Typical surveillance recommended by guidelines includes regular physical examinations, computed tomography scans, serum carcinoembryonic antigen monitoring, and colonoscopy. The objective of this comprehensive review is to discuss different patterns of relapses observed in colorectal cancer patients, present diagnostic options, and summarize different strategies and recommendations of the posttreatment surveillance.

T helpers 17 cell responses induced cardiac hypertrophy and remodeling in essential hypertension.
An increasing body of evidence has shown that type 17 helper T (TH17) cell responses play an important role in the progression of cardiac remodeling stimulated by long‑term pressure overload. ⋯ The differentiation of TH17 cells reflected the cardiac hypertrophy and remodeling response to hypertension‑induced pressure overload, and it might be a potential inflammatory marker to predict the prognosis of hypertensive patients.
